Ideal Clube de Fado

This was entertaining and the music was good. However it was not as advertised. There was no interaction with the musical artists nor was there any effort to explain the history or styles of fado. Also, after the 100+ people were seated in a packed room they turned off the A/C. Temperatures got quite uncomfortable during the performance. Then after a 50 minute show we were dismissed for the next group and the A/C was turned back on. Ok but just manage expectations.

One of the highlights of our trip! The musicians were truly spectacular, and the performance was so moving and emotional. I would highly recommend this club to everyone who loves music.

My third Fado show in 3 visits to Portugal, and one of the best. There's something special about Ideal Clube de Fado's dedication to Traditional Fado. It really makes you feel special about having an authentic experience, not just one crafted for tourists ( though most of the audience is indeed tourists ). This show was split about 50/50 between an male and female singer, and while I tend to like Fado sung by women better, the male singer was very good. If you're going to go to any Fado show in Portugal, even if it's not at Ideal Clube, definitely check out their website for some interesting and really informative articles about Fado and it's various styles.

The show was a great experience for expressing emotions. Although we don't get most of the lyrics and talks, we were still deeply touched.

Nice intimate space, really enjoyed the guitar players and both singers were great. I really connected with the feeling and passion of Fado, despite not understanding the language.

Simply amazing. The Fado performers were magical! The artistry and music was mesmerizing. They drew us in and captivated us for the entire hour. Fado was new to us and this was a perfect way to experience it. It was an intimate setting which added to our enjoyment!!!

Beautiful fado with multiple singers. The Portuguese guitar player was extraordinary. There are many fado shows in Porto. This was no frills, one hour, and lovely.

We had never Fado'd before - and I had not researched. It wasn't fun as such as it is a slightly melancholy musical hour in Portuguese (obviously) - but the musicians were exceptional and talented. A folky feel to it whilst about 70-90 people sat around our small tables sipping (very slowly) the Porto wine. Definitely one to immerse yourself in the local/national culture - not sure it will make my Spotify playlist but was a pleasant evening. Tony & Kate White London (UK)

One hour was the perfect break in our busy day. The singing and instrumentals were melodious. The small venue ensured everyone had a clear view of the artists. I recommend it for anyone wanting to hear Fado in a soothing environment. Hint: Skip the touristy restaurant next door.

I was looking forward to the talk in English before the concert to learn a little more about fado, so was disappointed that it did not happen. However the quality of the music and professionalism of the musicians were wonderful and we very much enjoyed the evening.
