You'll arrive at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once there, you'll take a short journey through the volcanic, moss-laden fields of the park. Here, you will listen as your friendly and experienced PADI Divemaster guide.
Later, you'll receive all of the necessary equipment for snorkeling in Silfra, including neoprene hoods and gloves, a thermal drysuit, snorkel and fins. The equipment will keep you buoyant throughout your time in the fissure, as well as offering a protection against the water.
Once in the water, your eyes will meet the incredible shades of blue so prevalent in the fissure, as well as the natural under-water flora canyon walls. As you are swimming you will have the opportunity to swim across continents, as you will be switching back and forth from the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. After the tour GoPRO pictures will be sent to you by email for free.

The route there was closed when we went, so we had to walk a bit. The meetup spot was a little confusing, but the staff were eager to get us moving along and help out fast.
Our tour guide Emilio was wonderful. He walked us through every step of the process and clearly let us know what to do in the event of emergency, and the route we would take through the whole tour. He also took plenty of pictures and we loved them! We received them the same day. He was a great guide and made our experience that much better.
The experience was incredible, but not for those that can't get a bit cold. It was icy, and you will have to take the risk of getting a little bit wet, no matter how good the gear is. Our gear was in great shape, clean, and tight-fitted, but a little bit still got in. For me, it mostly went around my shirt collar and wrists, but I was pretty much entirely dry. I highly recommend bringing a full change of clothes just in case!
Do not anticipate taking your own pictures, you will just have to be lucky with the GoPro pictures they take, but Emilio was very accommodating and took plenty.
Overall, we had a great experience. While we had other plans for the day, you could probably hike around the area and get cool pictures, so there's much more to do before and after your snorkeling.

The weather was great and views underwater was really cool! It was difficult at first, but Emilio gave good tips. Very fun experience.

Amazing snorkeling experience! Our guide Lilian was very friendly and provided a lot of information. The entire snorkeling experience was awesome and the view underwater was beautiful and magical. Must do in Iceland.

Snorkeling in Silfra with Tröll was an amazing experience. Marcelo took good care of us, was very friendly and informative, and made sure we were all properly outfitted for the experience.
The snorkeling itself was incredible. The water is clear as can be and the views are amazing. There’s nowhere else in the world that you can get views like this.
The pictures taken for our group are beautiful and we will treasure them as tokens of our experience.
The hot chocolate and candy bar after we’re nice touches as well.
This is a must do for anybody with any interest in snorkeling. I highly recommend Tröll—great company!
