Stop At: Katla Ice Cave, 871, Iceland
The view inside the Ice Cave is truly spectacular the combination of the colors of the ice, you will get the chance to see some amazing black ice as well as some blue ice features. The Katla Ice Cave is truly unique. The ice cave is located in Kötlujökull Glacier which is an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull Glacier. Underneath the glacier waits the mighty volcano Katla where the both the glacier and the ice cave takes their name from.
The tour departs from the village of Vík where you will hop on a Super Jeep that takes you up to the ice cave. There you will put on crampons and a helmet to prepare you to walk inside the natural ice cave. Your expert guide will inform you all about the glacier and how the ice cave is formed by mother nature.
- The Meeting point is at the parking lot of The Soup Company restaurant in Vík.
- Driving time to Vík from Reykjavík is around 2 hours and 30 minutes in good road conditions. Please note that if you arrive after departure time, your place on the tour can't be guaranteed or refunded.

This tour was fantastic. Really breathtaking scenery. - otherworldly, like so much of Iceland. And the tour wasn't physically challenging either.
Our guide, Frederico, was full of life and chatter. He was extremely knowledgeable about the science of the area. I felt that we were in safe hands.

This was one of the most amazing things we did in Iceland. Hinrik(spelling?) was a fabulous guide and told us all about the history of the land around us. He even introduced us to some great Icelandic music! The glacier and ice caves were breathtaking. An afternoon that turned into a nearly spiritual experience. Highly recommend!

We loved the overall experience right from the jeep ride to hiking the Ice caves. Our guide Pablo was super friendly and knowledgeable and we learnt so much about Iceland from him. He made the experience more fun.

Super fun trip. Really impressive nature. Our guide Egll (hope I spelled it right) was very capable, telling the people interesting facts, but also made jokes once a while, we felt very safe and comfortable around him. Loved his sarcasm now and then 😁 I would book this tour again!

Our guide Hendrick was amazing! I learned so much about the volcanic activity of Katla and the ice caves were breathtaking! Hiking up the glacier with the crampons was easy and accessible and the variations of topography was incredible! We even saw an arctic fox on this tour! 10/10 would recommend!

we had a great time on our tour! there were a total of four guests and 1 guide so it was very intimate and we could ask plenty of questions. Well worth the cost as we were able to access the glacier beyond what we could do without a guided tour.

We had a great time on the Katla ice cave tour. Davis, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I'm usually scared of such hikes but Davis really helped me and made sure that I not only completed it but also enjoyed it. This is one of the best things to do in Iceland, highly recommend!

"I recently had the privilege of experiencing the Ice Cave by Katla Volcano Jeep Tour, and it was truly breathtaking! The moment I stepped into the ice cave, I felt like I was transported to another planet or fantasy world. The surreal beauty of the ice mountain and the eerie silence left me in awe. As I explored the cave, I couldn't help but wonder if this was what other planets or moons looked like, or what our world was like before human industrialization.
This experience was unlike any other I've had in my travels, and I've done my fair share of exploring. Our tour guide, Shanyum (I hope I got his name right!), was exceptional and made the experience even more enjoyable. His expertise and passion for the region were evident throughout the tour.
I'm giving this tour a well-deserved 5 stars! If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in Iceland, look no further. The Ice Cave by Katla Volcano Jeep Tour is a must-do!"
