On our first night in Rome, we participated in the Top Class of Fettuccine, Ravioli, and Tiramisu making at Oste Cavour through Viator. Chef Hassan was our friendly and talented chef for the evening. He took volunteers from the class to help with demonstrations for our tiramisu making (make that first to chill). We went on to make our dough for the pasta. Chef Hassan was thorough, explaining each step and helping those who needed a little extra help. It was the best evening and we had a great time.

We didn't actually get the pasta WE made. When you spend 30 minutes working pasta with your bare hands, you really want to eat the product of YOUR labor not the pasta the strange guy standing next to you worked for 30 mins with HIS bare hands. Its kind of the whole point. How do we know it wasn't ours? We cut the corners off our ravioli and cut our fettuccine very thin and uniform. Certainly not what we received for dinner. You also are not offered a drink of anything during the class and the wine serving at dinner is anemic. Waitstaff also not so great.

We loved every moment making the pasta and tiramisu but the best part was eating and enjoying the meal together with a glass of good wine!!

Chef Laura was a delight to learn from in this fabulous experience learning to make fettuccine, ravioli and tiramisu! She is so sweet, and Funny! A great instructor and passionate about our experience in her class!
So glad we booked this experience on our last day of Rome!
We took the subway there and back and walked around the neighborhood afterwards and in a nearby park and to the river.
The food turned out wonderful. They served us wine, our food with sauces, our tiramisu and coffe or limoncello! We were full and happy and filled with enthusiasm to make pasta on our own. My adult children loved it!

THE GOOD:
First and foremost, chef Jo was AMAZING! She made pasta making seem simple and attainable. She made sure to help everyone and did a wonderful job keeping an eye on all of us. I could not have enjoyed my time with her more.
THE BAD:
After being told exactly how long pasta should be cooked, they took our noodles into the kitchen and wildly overcooked them. The pasta was practically mush and the sauce was awful and watery. Despite enjoying our time making the noodles, this quickly became the worst meal of our entire trip.
THE UGLY:
Absolutely NO HEALTH STANDARDS - We were told immediately upon arrival to go wash our hands (GREAT!) however before we even started and during the cooking I saw so many people touching their hair, faces, phones, and even saw one person PICK THEIR NOSE. This all wouldn't have been such an issue if we got to eat the noodles we actually made ourselves, I knew my own cleanliness levels. However when the food came it was wildly clear they'd thrown everything in together and we were eating the food prepared by other much less clean participants. This is so wildly unappetizing, and for this reason I can absolutely never recommend this tour or tour operator.
