Stop At: Bioluminescent Mosquito Bay, Puerto Mosquito Puerto Rico
This excursion is located on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. In order to participate in our tour, an overnight stay on Vieques is required. Vieques is a separate island off of the main island of Puerto Rico. You will need to take a plane or ferry from the main island of Puerto Rico to reach Vieques, and you will need to arrange separate ground transportation because you will not be able to bring a rental car on the ferry with you. Because we only offer tours at night so that our clients can experience the glow of the bay, even if you take our earliest tour, you will not be back to our meeting point with enough time to get on a ferry or a plane back to the main island on the same day. Our guides will meet you in Esperanza directly across from Rainbow Realty (278 Calle Flamboyan). Roundtrip from the meeting point, the excursion is 2 hours, time on the bay about 1.5 hours, weather permitting. We provide transportation from the meeting point to the Bio Bay entrance and back.

Juan Carlo really knew his stuff! Kayaks were in good shape and very stable. It was a crescent moon so you still could see the glow but I wouldn't want it much lighter. The bus ride to and from is fun on that old rough road. Anyways, this was worth what I paid.

We had a great time. Juan Carlos was an awesome guide, very friendly and helpful. The bus ride to the bay is a little/lot bumpy but we made it and it was well worth it. 👍

Lulu’s great personality made the trip extra special. What a beautiful bay trip watching the fish swim around among the bioluminescent plankton.

The whole experience was extraordinary. Loved seeing the fish move through the algae and leaving a trail of their presence

This experience was amazing and the Lulu the guide was extremely informative and nice : I couldn’t locate the pick up point we went back to hotel and gave up. She called to check on me and after explaining what happened, she came to pick me up

Thumbs up, exceeded expectations even though kayak assigned was a little uncomfortable. Really enjoyed seeing fish illuminate.

This was such a fun and unique experience!! Definitely for the more adventurous folks, as it does include a bumpy ride on a small bus, walking through mud, and getting a little wet. Our guide, Lulu, was funny and very informative of everything! Seeing the bio bay made everything worth it, it was so so cool to see. Hard to capture pictures of though, so expect to just enjoy it with your eyes :)
The only thing was she told us via message to not worry about bug spray, which made me think it would be provided. It wasn’t, so we definitely got eaten out there. I later found out it’s because the bug spray chemicals on people’s hands can damage the bio in the bay! But that would’ve been nice to know. Otherwise, a really good time and I would love to do it again!! :)
