Stop At: Old South Carriage Company, 14 Anson St, Charleston, SC 29401-2028

Our stable is where your tour experience will begin and end. After checking in you can say hi to our draft horses, watch an educational video, purchases a bottle of water, or use our restroom. As you board your carriage via our inclined ramp / easy loading platform, your certified tour guide will greet you.

Duration: 15 minutes

Pass By: Charleston City Market, 188 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29401-3155

After leaving our stable, your carriage will stop at the City gate near the Market, where a route is assigned by the City of Charleston. Our industry is governed by this system in order to disperse the carriage traffic more evenly throughout the city. Your tour will cover about 30 blocks and 300+ years of history. Though specific landmarks vary by route, all tours pass by sights that give Charleston its unique charm – custom wrought iron gates, well-manicured gardens, historic mansions with picturesque piazzas, and the many church steeples of the “Holy City.”

There is so much interesting history and it’s hard to imagine how Carol, our guide, was able to recall all of it and so quickly. She also had great command of the horse named moose. Moose was so cooperative.

Enjoyable time learning about the history of a portion of Charleston that Our guide took us on. It is interesting how the lottery system determines portions of the city you get to hear about and see

Our horse was Jordan and our guide was Paul. Even though it was raining, it did not affect our tour. The coach was covered with the sides open and we were comfortable the whole time and could see all the buildings and architecture and hear all his humorous accounts of history. We would highly recommend this company and this way to see the Charleston historic district. by the way, the horses only work half of the week and then get to munch on a meadow the rest of the time. Our horse Jordan was very smart and knew the route.

Was a nice experience. Only real issue was that we could not hear the tour guide very well. Horses well taken care of I think - which does make me happy.

Mike H was a great guide - we learned a lot and he was very entertaining. Curtis was the best! He tolerated the construction noises very well and seemed to know exactly where he was going.

A charming way to start out a visit to historic Charleston. A nice primer. Take note there is a lottery on which route your carriage will be sent on to limit the amount of traffic.
