I have taken this trip every couple of years and I am a native Chicagoan. The guides are always fabulous and the historical and architectural presentations fresh! The river has gotten some wonderful upgrades in the last 10 years and this guide was so excited to share the newest buildings and happenings! This is a must-see for tourists and residents alike!

Was so fun to see the city this way! Had no idea it was so big and the history is so interesting! Just wish the guide would have talked slower she talked very fast so didn’t understand a lot of what she said. All in all it was a good thing to do to see the city of Chicago!

I'm a Chicago native. I've been taking friends on the Wendella Architecture Tour of the Chicago River for many many years. First trip of this season unfortunately had a lecturer/docent that was disrespectful of Chicago and made off-color jokes. The docent is a gal named Alyssa. She claimed to be a lifelong Chicagoan. Chicago isn't a perfect city, no place is. But you don't start hectoring visitors to our city with personal observations of local politicians calling one of the "a crook". How does this have anything to do with Chicago's wonderful architecture? Then she started criticizing local sports teams and the nascent plans to build a new stadium in the city. This diatribe was filled with only personal opinions, nothing particularly factual. And I could do without the toilet and bidet "jokes". First time I've had this kind of disappointing experience in a Chicago tourist destination. Wendella has refused to respond.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour, our guide John was knowledgeable and engaging, and spoke very clearly. It's easy to be a bit overwhelmed by all the amazing buildings you see but the individual explanations about them, their history, construction methods, design and individual stories really brought each one to life. There was also a good overview of the history of Chicago. There was so much to see and learn. We went right up to the lock by the lake and up both branches of the Chicago River. Recommended.

It was an awesome boat ride, very scenic and loads of interesting facts about the architecture of building we passed by. The commentator was very knowledgeable, cautious and provided some very interesting facts. The weather was perfect and ride was very enjoyable. We d efibtely recommend this tour to everyone visiting Chicago. One aspect that was very appreciable is the tour operator rescheduled the ticket to another date for one person who could not join the trip in the last minute.
