Stop At: Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre, Highway 93 Icefields Pkwy, Improvement District No. 12, Jasper National Park, Alberta T1L 1J3 Canada

No trip to Jasper is complete without a visit to the famed Columbia Icefield, the largest ice field in the Canadian Rockies. Jaw-dropping views of towering mountains, rocks, ice and pure white snow as far as the eye can see. From the Discovery Centre, you will board a specialized Ice Explorer that will take you down a frozen roadway to the Athabasca Glacier. Along the way, your driver will provide commentary about glaciers, their impact upon the local ecosystem, and the environmental changes rapidly transforming these massive scenic wonders. Once you reach the Athabasca Glacier, you will have the opportunity to hop out, walk along the glacier and even fill up your water bottle with pure, pristine snowmelt.
Once the tour is complete, you will head over to the Glacier Skywalk, where you will walk along the glass bottom walkway out over the cliff's edge. After stopping to appreciate the incredible view and capture a few photographs, it's back to the Discovery Center.

Awesome experience! Even though it was cold and rainy when we went, the Athabasca Glacier was such a special sight, and our tour-guide-driver Kassie was fun and informative. Would absolutely recommend!

Great adventure, all the employees were super nice. The walk out on the glacier was fun but cold, wet and windy.Kassie our driver was phenomenal. The walk out on the glass bottom skywalk was great and a little scary for my wife who wouldn’t look down but I loved it. Would highly recommend this adventure to all.

The wife and I did the combined glacier and viewing platform on a beautiful partly cloudy day and not too cold, guessing high forties (F). We spent ~30 minutes on the glacier which was totally awesome. On the ride off the frozen river a passenger noticed a small animal seemingly in distress. The bus/monster truck driver stopped the vehicle and rescued the critter, giving it CPR and then releasing it to scamper back up the mountain. He explained the little fellow was a Pika, apparently some kind of small mountain rabbit. We were duly impressed and Samuel’s mother should be too. Next was the viewing platform with million dollar views. Highly recommended!

This should be on everyone’s bucket list! And our driver (Sam B with the steampunk glasses) made it extra special. I can’t believe he is only 24 years old! And if his mom is reading, you should be very proud! He kept us engaged with his humor and endless knowledge of the glaciers and ice fields. You won’t regret this experience. Truly breathtaking views, and incredible to learn about the history also.

A once in a lifetime experience! And our driver and guide leveled up our trip. He was cracking jokes and sharing amazing facts. Hopefully you are lucky enough to have Sam from Ontario as your guide too!

We took the Columbia Ice Field Tour on a gorgeous May afternoon. Jackson was our driver, just his 3rd day on the job He was marvelous, driving the large Ice Bus like a pro, with interesting and entertaining commentary. The Ice Field is well worth the view, especially with the sun shining off it. It was a warm day so just a sweater or light jacket required, but if the wind is up, apparently, it can get quite cold. Mum, if you're reading this, Jackson said you'd probably see this review before he will. He was fantastic.

Such an amazing experience. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. Phoenix was super friendly and got us where we needed to be quickly and with fun banter. Conner drove us to the glacier and was super knowledgeable and personable. He happily answered questions, introduced other workers, and made sure we were all safe. The sky walk was very unique and again staff was a friendly and helpful by engaging in conversation and offering to take photos. All around a great experience!!! Went in May and took a light jacket over a sweater and was comfortable, was definitely glad I covered my ears and had gloves though once on the glacier!

I did this tour today and had amazing weather and an Aussie named Tasha as our driver. She said if we liked the tour to give her a shout out and if we didn’t to blame John. Well Tasha was great. The ride was a once in a lifetime experience and walking on the glacier was pretty cool.
