Stop At: Delphi Greece
Delphi was regarded as the center of the world. According to mythology, it is here that the two eagles sent out by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel of the world met. The sanctuary of Delphi, set within a most spectacular landscape, was for many centuries the cultural and religious center and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world. The history of Delphi begins in prehistory and in the myths of the ancient Greeks. In the beginning the site was sacred to Mother Earth and was guarded by the terrible serpent Python, who was later killed by Apollo. Apollo's sanctuary was built here by Cretans who arrived at Kirrha, the port of Delphi, accompanied by the god in the form of a dolphin. This myth survived in plays presented during the various Delphic festivals, such as the Septerion, the Delphinia, the Thargelia, the Theophania and, of course. the famous Pythia, which celebrated the death of Python and comprised musical and athletic competitions.

Good day trip from Athens if you still have room for more history. It is long, approx 11h total, but the drive goes quick and provides a good opportunity for a rest and nap with all the walking you're sure to have done in Athens. Our tour guide Sofia was great, and provided the right amount of commentary throughout the day.

Delphi is definitely worth a visit. The views around the ruins are breathtaking. As for the tour itself, nice bus and they stop for a break on the way up which is welcomed. Our guide ( Tia) was very knowledgeable and passionate about the area. I felt too much time was spent in museum. I would have preferred a little extra time added to the Archova visit. It is such a cool town with great views. Lunch took majority of time with little to no time to explore. We did not select the lunch option, but ate at the same place the tour takes you. We paid a lot less by paying for ourselves. The place was a very good food. Our guide was informative, but her style was a bit too “school marm” for me. I felt like I was on a student field trip. We were a large group, and it was not always easy to hear all of what she would say at all times. She came across as being irritated or frustrated at times possibly due to the large group size and repeat questions.

The trip to Delphi included our guide telling us all sorts of interesting information. Unfortunately my husband couldn't climate up as he had walking issues. We did enjoy the museum. The stop in town was was right for lunch and a bit of a tour. We just wish the bus had been closer. All in all a good day.

We visited Greece in April, starting in Athens. The weather was perfect! Around 70-75F each day, sunny, and breezy. We booked this Delphi tour and had a wonderful time. The tour bus was comfortable, the guide was excellent, and the town visit was a great place for a nice lunch (the town is in the mountains and is very picturesque). The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the site and surrounding area and made sure that we had time to explore on our own as well. Delphi is an amazing site with an equally amazing history. It was the highlight of our trip to Greece….this tour company went above and beyond,

I took the Delphi day trip with the museum and lunch. Sofia was our guide and Pedros was our driver. It was an exceptional tour. My hats off to both of them. I really enjoyed the day, all the mythical stories, the sites, the museum and the food. Sofia and Pedros were the best!

The tour was amazing, the tour guide did an incredible job telling us some stories of the areas that we passed as well as some myths and stories of Delphi to prep us for are arrival and giving us time to rest on the long drive up, they also were incredibly knowledgeable about the site and gave us time to wonder around the site on our own.

The sites were impressive, but the tour guide’s time management was very poor. She made us stand in the cold rain waiting for her to adjust each member’s listening device, which she could have done during the 3 hour bus ride. At each site, she gave a lengthy speech on irrelevant topics in select spots (which again could be done on the bus), instead of letting us explore. For example, at the temple of Athena site, we stood far away from the temple to listen about which words had Greek roots, then immediately rushed back to the bus, without actually going near the temple.

It takes a while to get there but the tour is timed well, with a stop or two. Dephi is great, finding the tour and the right bus was easy, friendly guide and driver.
