We took a morning taxi to E-Bike Florence where the shop owner, John from Scotland, was closing up for the day due to the threat of rain beginning in the early afternoon. We were so disappointed and told him we were in Italy on our honeymoon. He took a chance on us, cautioning us that the hills are steep and winding, and vetted us on our past experience and confidence level before he fitted us to bikes and gave us a curfew of 6pm. He connected us to an app that mapped our 42km bike ride, and we began our trek out of the city streets and beyond, up to Fiesole on the famous Mondiale bike circuit used by both cyclists and motor vehicles. We biked through little towns, forests, vineyards and olive groves surrounded by miles of high ancient stone walls, onto the cycle path alongside the River Arno, and we climbed to almost above the tree line to experience panoramic views of Florence's awe-inspiring skyline. We meandered through the beautiful Tuscan countryside, passing castles along the way. We stopped into a little café on a steep cobblestoned street and selected dessert pastries for the evening and to share with John for his generosity and trust, and we had an alfresco lunch at a riverside café that included chicken liver pate, zucchini flan, and a shared glass of Chanti before we felt the first sprinkles of rain.
We skipped Michangelo Park and made our way towards the bike shop, as the rain pummeled our helmets. John was just a phone call away if we needed anything. He treated us like family & we simply can't recommend him enough. We feel like he gifted us with an amazing honeymoon experience!

The trail rides through different terains. The Vineyard stop was delightful. We purchased wine to ship to our home.
John was excellent instructing us on the map and equipment.
Even though we are not familiar with Rome or Fieosole, we enjoyed the experience.

John makes sure you understand where and how you’re going with his top quality E-bikes, gives you wise advice and you have plenty of time to do the tour. The stop at a local wine and olive oil producer is 5 stars on 5. Their olive oil is so good! You can electric assist or not your ride.

The owner John is phenomenal in both personality and ability to provide an exceptionally well thought out tour. Trusting tourists to bike 23 miles is no small task. The use of the Maps.Me app is an excellent well thought out solution and John’s walk through to ensure everyone had the app downloaded and working before the tour was great. We loved our fellow tourists in our group, a trip made more memorable when one of our group members had a tire tube bust. Within 10 minutes of a phone call to the shop help arrived to replace the tube and we were back up and going. It is a beautiful tour route and we even had time to stop a few times along the route for some vino. In closing do not miss eating at the bakery which is recommended on the stop. Amazing.

The ride was awesome. Would do it again. The map they have you download is very accurate and guiding yourself adds a bit of adventure.
The only unexpected issues were the terrible traffic getting to the shop and the unbelievably horrid parking situation. If you’re local, no issues. If you’re traveling by car, be prepared and leave extra time to get there. If you call the shop, they’ll send you directions to a garage that’s reasonably close. Wish I had known that ahead of time.

Great bikes, comfortable seats. Very well organized and what a beautiful route. Easy for even inexperienced cyclists. So far, my best day in Italy.
So nice to get away from the crowds and enjoy the scenery.
We had a loose seat and called for help, John cane himself to help us out and get us on our way.
I would highly recommend renting the ebikes and doing the self guided tour.
The winery is amazingly beautiful and the wine exquisite.
If you come to Florence don't miss this!

Highly recommend this tour. So easy and fun, and refreshing to be out of the city! The route was beautiful (and safe). The wine and food at the vineyard was incredible, don’t miss this stop!

Unfortunately we were unable to get to the ride due to lack of available transportation at the port. However, the e-bike company reached out several times to find out where we were and was happy to extend the time for us. Unfortunately it never worked out, but the person who called me (can’t remember his name) was so kind and although I figured I lost our payment for this excursion he kindly and unexpectedly refunded half, which I felt was very generous. I highly recomend this company and if we are able to return to Florence, we will definitely rebook with them.
