Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: El Yunque Hiking Area, El Yunque National Forest Puerto Rico

Get adventurous, get muddy and get off the paved trail! Hike to explore different zones of the rain forest and enjoy beautiful views, natural pools and the Atlantic Ocean. Once we arrive to the skirts of El Yunque we will start with a 25-30 minute journey on a river-wading and rock scaling path to the river. You will see bamboo trees, flowers, and beautiful plants and experience rivers, waterfalls, and natural trails.  We will make a stop to visit a collecting pool that forms at the base of a small waterfall. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in its crystal clear waters, swing from a rope and enjoy the different tones of its deep pools.

Then, after a few minutes of hiking and rock climbing to the upper sections (more strenuous), arrive at a natural river where you can swim, cliff jump, enjoy the natural water slides and small waterfalls.

After the hike, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant (food cost not included) for about an hour to an hour and half.

Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: Laguna Grande, Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve, Fajardo 00738 Puerto Rico

We will then proceed heading East to join on the guided nighttime bioluminescent bay kayak tour. Experience the mystical mangrove channels leading to Laguna Grande. Look into the water to see the glowing pyrodinium bahamense, microscopic planktons capable of producing natural light at the touch of your hand or paddle (like fireflies). Admire these amazing organisms up close as you paddle on a 2-person kayak through the mangroves for an estimate of 30-minutes, and learn from your eco-tour guide about this fragile and unique ecosystem. Once reached the lagoon, you will have some time to play with the water (from within the kayak) and receive more information, before we head back to the mangrove channels for another kayaking journey of approximately 30 minutes .

Enjoy provided snacks at the end of the kayak tour, before returning to San Juan.

Please note: The bio bay is an unpredictable natural phenomenon that may be influenced by multiple factors. Bioluminoscity level can vary from very visible to minimum or none without any previous notice. Full Moon phase may also affect the visibility of the bioluminescence. In the event of this happening alternate methods such as the use of a tarp will be incorporated in order to appreciate it.

It was so fun! This is a long day with both together. Be prepared to be exhausted if you do both together. Bring a waterproof container for your phone for both the hike & the kayak. You need shoes that can get muddy & wet.

Review is just Bio Bay Kayaking as the rainforest part was cancelled due to the weather. I would say Bio Bay is a must if in Peurto Rico. Well organised and a strange experience especially when the paddles of the kayak touched the water on the return to the starting point

One of our favorite adventures in Puerto Rico! Such a diverse way to experience its nature and to get fully immersed. There were so many beautiful lakes and waterfalls, and the kayaking also offered a new way to see its natural wonders, and one of its magical bioluminescent bays!

This is by far the best excursion we’ve done on any vacation. Our tour guides George and Mitchell were fantastic. The tour was so much fun for both adults and children. Rock water slide, cliff jumping and rope swing in the beautiful rain forest backdrop. We embraced the mud! The kayak tour through the mangrove forest and bio bay luminescence was awesome too. A long day but well worth it for these once in a lifetime experiences.

This excursion was amazing! Frankie was our tour guide and he did so well at providing us with info about the rainforest. There were a lot of complaints from the others as far as the physicality of the hike but it was honestly so worth it to get the experience we had! It rained pretty hard so we also got the "actual" rainforest feel. The lagoon was even more amazing ! Kayaking at night was not on the bucket list but it definitely topped some of those things on the list due to the bioluminescent waters! The fish were even lit up ! You have to experience this when going to Puerto Rico!

Frankie was an amazing and engaging guide for El Yunque and the bio bay was incredible- especially the winding path through the mangroves. Please know that you have to be physically able to do a lot of climbing on slippery and muddy surfaces - not appropriate for people who cannot handle fairly physically activity.
