David is a geologist, and passionate about wild life, plants, ecology and the Tasmanian wilderness. He talked almost non-stop about what we were seeing and gave the background to all the discussions leading to the the flooding of Lake Pedder and the creation of the Gordon dam. He was apolitical and receptive to all questions. A long day but well worthwhile.

The southwest of Tasmania is a different world from the rest of the island and indeed the rest of the nation. When we boarded, our guide, David, warned us it would be wetter and colder than we might expect. In fact rain all day did not dampen his enthusiasm or patter, and we all loved the views and learned a lot. Gordon dam is an amazing feat of engineering.

Excellent trip, we met the “Holy light” on the way - a huge rare rainbow looks like full of the valley, it glorying us, David and everyone, I guess so. We saw the tea beach, the water on the shore looks like tea, the 1st time I saw that in my life. We climbed the Gordon dam, and David took us to the highest point of Gordon dam, at the highest point, Gordon dam is not so shocking as we stand on it…:)

It was so nice to go for a guided tour with David last Saturday 11th November 2023. He was such an amazing tour guide who looked after us so well. We felt as if we were going with a family. He was so professional and knowledgeable about Lake Pedder, Gordon Dam and mostly almost everything about the places around Tasmania and their wonderful stories. We overenjoyed our outing so much. We recommend anyone interested to take a tour with David. He is a fantastic fellow. Thank you so much, David for this opportunity.
