We went to Mouros Castle and Pena place great stops. Operator was polite; however, she changed several stops listed on the tour. We did not go to downtown Sintra, and we did not go to the light house. We would have like to see these locations.

Our guide was very friendly and informative and a great driver. He provided us with a brief historic overview of each stop and was available for questions. The Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle were more than we expected. Our guide also stopped at a great local restaurant for lunch and another for the special pastry of Sintra.

This was our first time using Viator. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. We hired a guide/driver for a day trip to Sintra. Antonio is a nice young man who adequately filled the driver part of the assignment but was not a guide by any stretch. We have used guides all over the world and thus have many experiences to compare this one to. Sadly when I reached out to the company to express my concerns I was met with a very defensive response. I am sure that the company will respond in a similar way to this posting but I am doing the posting anyway to assist other travelers. From the other reviews posted for this experience, it does look like the company has some good guides thus I would just make sure you dont get Antonio. He shared that he is finishing school and will be starting a job soon in his field-clearly this seems to be a space filler job. He said he has only done a few "driver/guide" jobs and it shows. Most guides are passionate about their country and its history and culture as well as the places you are visiting. On the 45 minute drive to Sintra Antonio said nothing about where we were going, what we were seeing or Portugal in general. And when we visited the two sites we went to (we cut the trip short as we really weren't getting much more than if did on our own. We did not want to hurt Antonio's feelings so we did not share our disappointment in his lack of expertise). I am sure the company will respond noting that my husband chose not to visit the palace as he suffered a traumatic brain injury and can be become overwhelmed by crowds. While this is true, we visited many, many crowded sites and one of the reasons we arrange for a private guide is that they are typically very helpful in navigating sites and helping him to feel comfortable. Our niece did tour the palace with Antonio and said he offered basically what was on the placards. She overheard other guides given much more detailed information. Again I am only posting this review to hopefully help other travelers. If you only need a drive Antonio is a fine choice for that. The company's response to my follow up with them expressing my concerns was very disappointing and I suspect they will provide a similar response here.

Ana made our tour great, planning everything from finding parking to walking on a place that is challenging without her expert knowledge. She also knew all background details from history to local which made the tour be educational and pleasant.

Diogo was great from being flexible with a last minute pick-up location to providing an informative, fun and educational tour of Sintra and the surrounding areas. He provided recommendations for local pastries and lunch and answered every question we asked. His English is very good which made our private tour that much better. I highly recommend this tour with Diogo to everyone!

Our guide, Fernando was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Portugal and the Sintra, Pena Palace and Mouros Castle. We didn't have time to see the Mouros Castle as the road to the Palace was backed up for at least an hour. He did show it to us from the Palace and told of its history. We drove along the coast from Lisbon to Sintra. What views! I would recommend this tour to everyone!
