Land at a secluded camp on Herbert Glacier for your dogsled ride nestled among mountain peaks in a vast, ancient snowfield, you’ll feel like you’re the only group in the world on this glacier landing. You’ll be greeted by a team of Alaskan huskies at the camp for your dogsled ride and you’ll hop in the sled and let your dogs pull you and your family and friends along the magnificent snowfields. While on the tour, you’ll have the choice of riding the runners or being comfortably seated on the sled.

If you are arriving on a ship or staying at a hotel in downtown Juneau, you will meet outside, under the cables of the Goldbelt Mt. Roberts Tram (490 S Franklin St) at your pick-up time. Find a Coastal Representative dressed in bright orange holding a yellow sign that reads 'Coastal Helicopters' to be checked in. If you are staying at a hotel near the airport, you will be met by a Coastal Representative outside the main doors of the lobby. We will be contacting you regarding your pick up details.

Please ensure to select the correct passenger option when booking your tour. The space inside the aircraft and we want to guarantee everyone will be comfortable in the helicopter. Selecting the improper option or misreporting weight can cause tour delays and cancellations without refund.
No-bag policy. If you have medical needs that require a carry on, please note at time of booking. All bags brought to base will be stored in the tour office until you return from your flight
Dress warmly and in layers, and wear rubber-soled shoes such as a light hiking boot or athletic shoes. The tour company will provide overshoes and can supply raincoats as needed. Remember to bring your camera, film and binoculars!

Please ensure your weight is in the correct format (kgs/lbs) when you include your weight at checkout
WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS – Please remember that each passenger will be weighed at our facilities. Be sure accurate weights have been reported and proper passenger types have been selected for each passenger. Misreporting weights or selecting the wrong passenger type may cause tour delays and cancellations without refunds.
Failure to provide mandatory information will result in cancellation of bookings. You must provide individual weights and pick up location details.
Coastal Helicopters will try our best to accommodate parties/families in the same helicopter. However, we cannot guarantee seating as it is all based on helicopter weight and balance, as well as the other parties within the flight. This will be determined at the time of check in once everyone on the flight has weighed in. Should your family/party be in split into multiple helicopters, the landing will happen together. Please also note that lap children are NOT allowed, and each passenger must purchase a full fare ticket.

Being told my tour was cancelled 1/2 hr before the start. I had to book another tour which was more expensive than the one I booked through Viator

This was one of the highlights to my visit in Alaska. The operators were fantastic, from the van pick up to the folks at the base camp to the helicopter pilots to the folks handling the puppies to the dogsled captain. Just an all-around great several hours.

These guys are first class from greeting you at the cruise dock to narrating the city on the way to the helicopter to the actual ride and dog sled camp. LOTS of good info and such a fun thing to dogsled on the actual glacier vs just on a road. Highly highly recommended tour!

Just reinforcing the other negative reviews that your tour is not only dependent on weather, but the time you book as well. Our 8:30am was cancelled this morning, which fog definitely happens and is understandable. We knew that was a risk. However, when going getting off the ship we noticed they were flying again at 9:00am! We were literally penalized for not originally booking our slot 25min later. When asking for any openings to go later, they were of no help, and only said ‘Sorry - we are full today’ That’s incredibly frustrating to have no options all day only because you booked an earlier tour. So I would caution to booking an early time to give way to fog and have an option B,especially with highly disappointed children after they see other people being loaded into their vans to go on to their flights. It’s the kind of unprofessional service you expect on $25 bus tours, not $2,700 (that we paid months ago)! The tour guides at the port were extremely helpful for other options, unlike Coastal.

My group and I loved this excursion!!! It was the highlight of the trip. The views from the helicopter were unbelievable. The dog sledding was a once in a lifetime experience. I would do this excursion again!!! And again!!

We had a blast! Easy pickup and drop off, organized and detailed instructions, smooth ride, friendly people. My 7 year old really enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you and we highly recommend this excursion with Coastal Helicopters.

The helicopter flight over the mountains to the snow field was incredible! I saw at least 30 waterfalls. Our musher was friendly and knowledgeable. The dogsled tour was very fun. Overall, this was an easily accessible, once in a lifetime adventure that even my 84 year old grandmother was able to enjoy.

We recently took an excursion with Coastal Helicopters. From start to finish they were excellent. All the staff were so friendly and efficient. Unfortunately due to poor weather we couldn’t make the dog sledding part. I received a prompt refund of the balance with no trouble. The helicopter to the glacier was great though with a very competent and knowledgeable pilot. Oceania. I couldn’t recommend this company highly enough. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

This was hands down our favorite excursion and well worth every penny!!! From the views in the helicopter, to the knowledge gained from experienced mushers, we loved every minute of this experience. Weather was perfect, glaciers were gorgeous, and the pups were adorable! Trust us when we say you HAVE to do this excursion when in Juneau!!! Also thank you Wade and all 11 of our dogs (even John), for taking us on a trip we will never forget! We miss your doggos already!
