Kyoto Samurai Experience

I carefully researched the various Samurai experiences available before visiting Japan. I am so glad that I picked this one in Kyoto, with the house, the artefacts, the garden, the demonstrations, and the staff exceeding all of my expectations. We had a good sized group and I was pleasantly surprised to have four opportunities to cut with a 130 year old katana. A huge thank you to all the staff and our amazing instructor, truly an experience not to be missed!!

Book this! It is the best experience I had in Kyoto. Well organised, informative, friendly & beautiful. You arrive at a stunning Edo period house in Central Kyoto, are changed into peroid dress & receive an enthralling narrative & demonstration on Samurai history & skill. Then it's your turn. Wielding a Katana, we took x 4 turns slashing a tatami mat (to pieces) my inner child got day release! 😂 The staff take amazing photos of you for free. Book it!

The experience was great from start to finish, it was so fun using the katanas, learning about samurai history in a samurai house and watching the demonstrations performed by the samurai. The size of the group was perfect to enjoy the experience and you could easily take lots of pictures throughout the session, with more photos being sent from the staff later that day. Overall 10/10 and would recommend to anyone going to Kyoto interested in an interactive activity.

I loved the aesthetics of the sword art, the beauty of the surroundings and the garden. I appreciated the skills of our instructors, the amazing feeling of operating the sword that gave me a sense of confidence and great responsibility. I enjoyed the sense of calm and peace that the Zen meditation brought me after the excitement of sword practice. And wearing the Samurai outfit has given a realistic meaning to this experience I would highly recommend this activity to my friends and family

My Samurai experience in Kyoto was unforgettable. The staff's passion for history and their expert guidance made every moment engaging and educational. From the traditional attire to the intricacies of swordplay, it was an authentic and memorable journey through Japanese culture. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto!

Wow, this was one of the top things we did in our trip to Japan. The guides at the beginning are very knowledgeable and nice, the samurai instructors are impressive and give great feedback, and it was such a unique experience! I also love that they provide free photos. Everything was very organized and informative. I was worried I would not be able to cut my stick but they work with you and are very patient if you have issues ( I got it on the first try as did many people!).
