We had a great time and got to see a lot of things we would have missed if we didn’t have a guide. I love that if you have an iPhone the guide will Airdop all the photos to you that were taken through his scope. I’ve always gotten so obsessed with taking pictures that I rarely just get to enjoy the tour.

Jason was a capable guide. He pointed out all 4 species of monkeys, sloths, a brown tree snake eating a lizard, and a coati. But he promised to send me a Google link to his photos from our trip, and he never did! Bummer.

During our visit to Manuel Antonio, Lurdes, our knowledgeable guide, crafted an exceptional experience, revealing animals we wouldn't have spotted without her and offering insights that ensured seamless exploration. The journey was both educational and enjoyable, fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty of Manuel Antonio. We encountered the Common Basilisk, Common Tan Making Bat, Iguana, Common Pauraque, Squirrel Monkey, White-Faced Monkey, Howling Monkey, and Sloth – an incredible array! The tour concluded on the beach, the most beautiful I've seen, with crystal-clear water and fine sand creating a breathtaking sight. Keep your bags closed, as monkeys may try to snag something. While there are a few more hiking trails we didn't have time to explore, we plan to return for that experience. Additionally, we received detailed instructions on what to bring, how to get to the place, where to park the car, etc. Note that you must purchase a separate ticket for the park itself, and the entrance time doesn't have to align with the tour start. Wakoo Tours has a special agreement with the park. I recommend contacting them with any questions before purchasing park entry tickets. Don't forget to bring a reusable water bottle; there are water stations inside the park allowing you to refill during the tour. It's advisable to eat beforehand since bringing food isn't allowed, and food options inside the park are limited. Of course, bring a swimsuit and sunscreen—you don't want to miss the opportunity to enjoy the beach inside the park. Highly recommend this guided tour for a fulfilling and enriching adventure!

Our guide, Jason, was the best! He was entertaining, very knowledgeable about the park and Costa Rica, polite and courteous. Provided very detailed instructions to get to the park. We enjoyed seeing the sloth + baby, 4 different types of monkeys, iguanas, Coatimundi, frogs and birds. The walk was long (2 hrs) and hot on a stone road with occasional water breaks and a few benches to sit on with opportunity to buy lunch near the end. The trail was somewhat crowded between 8 and 10 am on a Thursday in early March, but not overly so. At the end we spent another hour or so swimming on the beach before hiking back.

Andrew was fantastic. Super energetic and was able to show us a ton of wildlife that we never would have seen without him. The entire tour was very enjoyable for our whole family including 4 kids. Thanks for the helpful parking tips / photos of where to go.

FANTASTIC, I would not go to Manuel Antonio without a guide. The animals are very hard to spot. ANDREW! Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic. Charismatic, knowledgeable, even would demonstrate the bird calls and managed to get a beautiful bird to come out by doing some calls. ALSO! He takes a picture of the animal through his telescope for you and shares it with everyone at the end so you don’t have to worry about pulling your phone out on the tour and being distracted. You just enjoy the walk and the animals. We saw, sloth, capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, bats, and a bunch of lizards and bugs. But we literally never would have seen any of them (maybe except for the rambunctious capuchin monkeys) without ANDREW our tour guide. 10/10 experience MOST IMPORTANTLY we didn’t know you needed to buy tickets to the park separately at the appropriate time to get in to the actual park. So make sure you coordinate your tickets with the tour times available. Jason at Walpole tours was very helpful on WhatsApp to coordinate this for us. What an amazing experience and I hope you have as amazing time as we did. Also no disposable plastic water bottles in the park. You have to have a canteen.

The guide, Jason, was very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English, was funny and personable, and was able to spot wildlife where nothing seemed visible to me. Without him, we would’ve missed seeing the sloths, bat, crab and lizards. We did manage to see monkeys without his help.
