Itinerary

Stop At: D-Day Beaches (Plages du Debarquement de la Bataille de Normandie), Comite Regional de Tourisme de Normandie 14 Rue Charles Corbeau, Evreux, 27000 France

Your private tour guide will take your private group up for a full day of World War II history, with an emphasis on the American soldiers who fought to protect the Allies and their people.
You will visit important sites such as the ones that follow.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Pointe du Hoc, 14450 Cricqueville-en-Bessin France

Start your visit with your private guide by Pointe du Hoc, where American troops landed on D-Day. This is one of the most significant World War II sites, and unlike many other Normandy landmarks, Pointe du Hoc is largely untouched, making this an emotional and powerful place to begin the private tour.

Your expert guide will take you through the history and significance of what happened here on June 6, 1944, as American troops scaled the cliffs (the highest point in the region) to take back control from German troops who had built 6 casemates to house a battery of 155 mm guns.

Stand before this site, situated Utah Beach and Omaha Beach, and reflect on the heroic struggle of the American Second Ranger Battalion under the command of Lt. Col. James E. Rudder. Ultimately, many American soldiers sacrificed their lives in order to protect fellow troops from German counterattacks.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Omaha Beach, Avenue de la Liberation, Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France

Leaving Pointe duc Hoc, continue on a drive for a visit to Omaha Beach, the site of one of the most significant events of World War II.

Stand on the sands where 2,400 American soldiers lost their lives on D-Day in an effort to secure a beachhead spanning some 5 miles between Port en Bessin and the Vire River, linking up with the British landings at Gold Beach and the Americans at Utah Beach.

Your guide will take you through this history of Omaha Beach before leaving you with free time to reflect and pay your respects to those who fought against the German 352nd Infantry Division.

When you are ready, a provided lunch will be served before heading to the American Cemetery.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France

After lunch your journey continues with an extensive visit to the 172.5-acre American Cemetery of Colleville, the resting place of some 9,387 military, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings.

Here, take your time visiting the graves, the Memorial, the Wall of the Missing, and the chapel.

Your visit will be followed with a stop at the beautifully designed American Interpretive Center, where you will have the opportunity to watch remarkable short films and documentaries relating the events of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy operations.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Arromanches-les-Bains, Arromanches-les-Bains, Calvados, Basse-Normandie, Normandy

Leaving the American Cemetery, you'll sit back and relax on a drive to the Arromanches with its vestiges of the artificial harbor (Mulberry Bridge), Longues-sur-Mer and the German artillery battery, which gave the allies a pounding on the morning of June 6.

It is actually the only coastal battery to have kept its guns, giving an impressive picture of what an Atlantic wall gun emplacement was really like.

At the end of your day you will be given free time to explore the Caen Peace Memorial, a place for contemplating war in general and why it is important not to forget the legacy of the Second World War.

Saw the beaches where Alied forces landed and built floating bridges. Incredible sight of engineering. The guide took us to the cemetery where US fallen soldiers are buried on US soil in France. Sobering. Awesome tour guide. Highly recommend

Our private tour guide, Marios, picked us up outside our Airbnb right on time. Due to the holiday, traffic was heavier than normal and it took three hours to get to the first site overlooking both Utah and Omaha beaches. This was quite a site, Marios explained how it would have looked at low tide when the allied troops first hit the beach on D-day. We visited both the US and UK memorials, and stopped for lunch before traveling back. Our only recommendation for our guide would be to ensure everyone is in listening distance when you're providing information. We also traveled in a very comfortable van!

Our private day tour to the beaches of Normandy was great! Sylvain was our guide & driver. He was right on time and entertained us on our way out of town and through the countryside on the way. We made one stop at a gas station/cafe to get a coffee and use the restroom. We were able to discuss where we wanted to go and make sure that we’d have time to fit in. We requested to go all the way to Utah beach and Sylvain was able to accommodate. He had all the information and was a wonderful guide at all of our stops. We had a lovely lunch and were able to see Omaha Beach as well as the Normandy American Cemetery. Our trip back to Paris unfortunately, was not uneventful as our daughter got sick and we had to pull over multiple times. Sylvain was so understanding and even took us back to one of the stops as our daughter had forgotten her cell phone during all the sickness. This added about an hour on to our return, we were so appreciative and thankful for such an understanding driver and guide. Can’t thank Sylvain enough! Wonderful company, tour and guide.

Several informative sites and the cemetery were seen, with a special stop recognizing native Indian soldiers who contributed (of interest to my husband). Julian was a wealth of information, with music and pictures added in to tell the story of the Allied Forces.

This tour is absolutely worth every penny! It was fantastic getting to move at a faster pace than the larger tours so that we could see more, of which there is so much to take in that one could easily spend a long weekend. Ricardo was an incredible guide - so very knowledgeable and knew how to get us the most out of the day. He helped point out so much that we probably would have missed or overlooked if out on our own. We were also able to see so much of the French countryside and coastal towns throughout our journey. What a fantastic day!!
