Myora Springs is a beautiful spot and source of freshwater for the wildlife of the Dunwich area, just a few kilometres out of Dunwich on the road to Amity Point and Point Lookout. Myora Springs, or Moongalba (sitting down place) has a pure-freshwater spring that is running today, just as it has for thousands of years. In the forest surrounding the Myora Springs is an abundance of freshwater crayfish, prawns, bungwal fern, and other plant foods and so it is no surprise to learn this was a favoured camping place of the Aboriginal people. The banks feature parts of large middens, which contain, among other things, cockle, oyster and whelk shells.

From June to November, visitors can delight in watching humpback whales pass close to the coastline on their annual migration. The Gorge Walk also offers stunning views along beautiful Main Beach to Jumpinpin, the Island’s southern tip.

We had a truly amazing day with Brisbane Nature Tours. Anita picked us up from our hotel and drove us to the ferry -- scenic ride over to North Stradbroke Island. Highlight was the North Gorge walk, with spectacular views of the ocean and the gorge. We saw manta rays, turtles, dolphins, and some interesting birds. Another great stop was at Brown Lake -- it should really be called Rainbow Lake because of the beautiful coloration of the water due to tannins from the tea trees around it. We also saw a koala, some kangaroos, and a monitor lizard at various points in the day and we stopped for a delicious lunch. Because this is a private tour, Anita gave us a a few choices about lunch location and which stops to spend more time at. Her vehicle is clean and very comfortable and Anita was a knowledgeable guide. Can't say enough good things about this tour. (See also pictures posted with this review.)

Anita is an excellent guide and a very pleasant company. She took care of us the whole day, guiding us through beautiful landscapes and dynamic ecosystems where the iconic Australian fauna is there to be observed and photographed 😊:
Kangaroo, Koala, birds like the Osprey just to mention one, iguanas, abundant sea life we could see enjoying the transparent waters in the coastline, turtles, dolphins, rays….
The walks and the beautiful lake swim are also experiences we will remember fondly.
We surely recommend this excellent tour.

This was an excellent trip from pick-up to drop-off, Anita was cheerful, knowledgeable and interesting. North Stradbroke Island provided so many opportunities to see varied landscapes, walk and enjoy the views that it was great to be able to do it at our pace on the private tour.

I could not believe that this was a private tour with just Anita. When she picked us up from our hotel I thought we were going to meet a bus with a larger group. But no, it was just the three of us. We had such a wonderful experience, kangaroos, whales, turtles, eagles and birds just to mention some of what we saw. All in all, we had such a wonderful day and Anita even drops us in the Brisbane CBD so we could have a few collies and a nice meal in the city. Do your self a favour and use Anita for only two or three people, she makes four, how private is that. Highly recommend 👍

We had the most incredible day with Anita. She is a fantastic guide. She is knowledgeable about the island and its wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot whales coming in at the very end of May, dolphins playing, and even koalas in the wild. Lunch at the Blue Room was delicious. We ended the day at a very tranquil Brown Lake, and Anita prepared a wonderful tea, coffee, juice, as well as pastries and fruit. The tour was very well organized and we didn’t feel rushed at all throughout the day. North Stradbroke Island is very beautiful. We spent 2 weeks in Australia and this is one of our favorite tours. I highly recommend booking this tour with Anita. It’s a bit of a hidden gem when reviewing tour options, and one you don’t want to pass up!

This tour was amazing. Anita picked me up at my hotel and took care of everything. She is well versed in the island history, culture and biology and I learned a tremendous amount. The views of the ocean were spectacular and saw lots of birds and wildlife. I have a bad ankle and she let me go at my pace and made sure I was comfortable. I highly recommend this tour and any other from this company. Wish I was here longer to experience more of them.
