First, you will start with a quick visit to the world-famous La Boqueria market, where your chef will show you how to spot fresh products. After shopping, head back to the GAB LAB (our test kitchen and dining room), where you will taste some seasonal tapas and participate in a Sangria-making class. Then put on your apron as you join the chef in a fun interactive paella class where you will learn the history and secrets of this famous dish. Afterwards enjoy your paella with your new friends and family. Following the experience, you will be provided with a copy of all the recipes, so that you can do it again at home.

*** PLEASE NOTE- The market is closed EVERY SUNDAY and on public holidays. Our class typically does run on these days and outside of these hours.
*** Our 21:15 Spanish Dinner Class does NOT include a visit to the market.
*** The market is home to numerous individual vendors, who operate on their own hours, generally opening from 08:00 to around 20:30 PM. Given the market's lively atmosphere, occasional chaos and peak times, we may decide to focus on the immersive culinary experience without the added hustle and bustle of navigating through the crowded market stalls.

Simon was very friendly and answered all of our questions with the utmost patience. He took us to Mercado de la Boqueria for the freshest ingredients. One step at a time, he led us down the path of making the ultimate paella. He taught us shortcuts, best practices, and ways around seafood (from shrimp, to clams, to mussels, and squid). At the end, we had tapas, paella, AND dessert! On top of learning how to make it. It was a fantastic overall experience - of how to make it right!! Everything was delicious, great tasting, and even the dessert was worth the wait! If you like off the beaten path for a fun, Spanish spices focused dish, this is definately one!!!!

This class was so much fun! The chef who taught that class was amazing. Everything was well thought out and planned from the walk to the market down to having everyone in the class help make the Palella! If you are in Barcelona and want to learn how to make this amazing dish, I encourage you take this fun class! (Plus you get to learn how to make Sangria! How can you go wrong?!?!)

This place was fantastic! Loved the food and learning how to make Paella and Sangria. I am not a seafood fan so l had the chicken option which was so good but the group who had the seafood also loved theirs.

I really enjoyed Chef Hugo and Armando- they are wonderful hosts and teach about the history of the dish and its ingredients. It was a really fun atmosphere. Even though I didn’t know anybody in the group, it was relaxed and everyone had a great time getting to know each other. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone travelling to Barcelona and wanting a fun interactive experience. Thanks again for a great night Chef Hugo & Armando!
