Wanted to start our experience here early as there was a lot to see, my reservation to see the Arizona began at 9:30a but we weren’t able to go until 11:30a. We spent an hour waiting for a bus driver to meet in a parking lot to get our ticket who never showed up, then another driver shows up and drives us to Pearl Harbor after we had to chase after him in our vehicle because he never stopped. We get to Pearl Harbor entrance where the actual driver was, no one told me or communicated that my reservation had been changed and the driver acted like it wasn’t his problem and to call customer service as he didn’t care or want to hear about my complaints. Unorganized and a terrible way to start the day. We did the self guided tour that was supposed to come with headphones, there weren’t any headphones offered they were out! So we did a silent self guided tour. It’s unclear how long each ship will take so it’s hard to budget your time and plan your day out. The groups are too large in my opinion and makes for a very crowded and unenjoyable experience, they make you feel like it’s very serious and to be considerate and pay respects all the while they are raking in money on those who have sacrificed their lives by cramming as many people as possible on tours. You pay all this money to see Pearl Harbor needing two tours to see all of it at the reasonable price of just over $300 and they still nickel and dime you for photos ($25). Then at the end of the day we got to walk all the way back to our car way down the street when we could have parked in the parking lot directly in front of the entrance for $7.

This tour was the second time we have experienced the Memorial. Our last visit was late 2011 and we had thought the experience would be just as emotional. This time however we found the memorial was so packed with tourists that it lost the real feeling of what the memorial stood for. We were all herded around like cattle whereas back in 2011 it was easier and more emotional to feel the experience. Whilst we are glad, we revisited the memorial we wouldn't bother again as it has become a very commercialized venue which is so sad. Even saying all that if you have never been then you do need to make the effort.

The guide and driver were excellent. However, we were an hour late for our reservation at Pearl Harbor. There was also miscommunication about when we would leave the site.

Obtaining tickets through Trip Advisor was a great way to tour Pearl Harbor and the US Arizona monument. Pick up and drop off was easy, and our driver and guide Finny was the best.

Loved the submarine seeing how they had to be down in those living quarters. The feeling at the memorial was so strong. It just made me cry. My husband is a veteran so makes it even more special. Mahalo
