Join a complimentary site talk and learn about the many restored buildings including the Penitentiary, Commandant's House and the Church. Browse in the Port Arthur Gallery which includes interactive exhibits and displays. Enjoy a cruise on Carnarvon Bay around the Isle of the Dead. Enjoy a picnic lunch (bring your own) from the landscaped grounds or purchase lunch from one of the many options available in the visitors centre.

The trip was mediocre. We were dropped off at port Arthur to wander around and take a boat trip. Unfortunately we left an expensive item on the bus journey and after contacting the company many times and corresponding with them, our item (that they acknowledged they had), was ‘given away’ due to “time constraints”, even though they knew this was something we wanted returned. Very disappointing and bad form on their behalf. Would not recommend dealing with this company as they do not honor their commitment.

Colin the driver/guide has a wealth of knowledge and kept us entertained with his jokes. He went above and beyond in dropping us off very close to our accommodation. We took the bus trip to Port Arthur as part of our 3 Capes Adventure

Port Arthur was fascinating, the online commentary really added knowledge and value to this experience and was easy to use. Carmel was our driver and her informal commentary was informative and helpful.
Stops along the way we’re interesting, the trip to the caves being a hi-light

Vast coverage during a day of bright sunshine on some of the darkest events in Port Arthur during the past three centuries. The deeply moving reminders of the recent horror were set against the confusion and inhumanity of the prison life. Simply unforgettable. Bus driver Hugo brought his extensive knowledge of the surrounding area to life. His puns would have had him sentenced for 5 years minimum.

They expressed the it was fantastic and very interesting and loved the sight seeing.

This was a long full-day tour, but well worth the time. Our driver, Phil, was most accommodating, knowledgeable, and organized our time well. Port Arthur is a fascinating place, with local guides offering interesting talks. It is a huge area to cover so the time given is certainly required. The 'Cruise' is quite pleasant and offers a very nice view of the area from the water. One recommendation might be to book the 'Island of the Dead', tour and visit the graves of those buried there. I would certainly recommend this tour, which was booked via Grayline.

Our guide Colin was a brilliant historian his knowledge was amazing. He also kept us laughing with his "dad" jokes, a lot of fun was had.
Port Arthur was a beautiful place, so well cared for and so interesting.
If you do nothing else while in Hobart, do this tour.

The Port Arthur site visit is truly an excellent experience...viewing all those remnants, ruined structures in the past. However, the harbour cruise was pretty boring to me as there was not much to see.
