This might have been the best money I spent on my trip to Costa Rica. The crew was super friendly and helpful. The boat ride was smooth, not too crowded, and the service was phenomenal. We were given fresh watermelon and cocktails from the jump. The ride out to the cove was smooth and beautiful. Once we dropped anchor we were encouraged to jump off the boat, swim, snorkel, and/or kayak. The water was warm and it was super refreshing after being out on the boat for an hour or so. Lunch was provided and tasted great. The welcome cocktail was so tasty and we opted to drink that during the trip instead of take advantage of the open bar. Once we headed back to shore the weather turned some, but the ride was still smooth and we managed to avoid the rain. The rainy and overcast weather kept us from having a full sunset ride back, but we still had an incredible time. This was one of the best parts of our trip to Tamarindo, and I can't recommend it enough.

The food was great and the scenery was beautiful! We didn't get much of a sunset due to the overcast weather but that's no one's fault and the crew still worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time. A few people on our boat felt sea sick and the crew were super attentive and tended to them appropriately. I don't think this would be the tour I take my small kids on as the ocean current can get pretty strong at times and they obviously wouldn't take full advantage of the food/drinks, but I would definitely recommend it to those 18+.

We were in Tamarindo for a bachelorette party and decided to do a sunset catamaran tour. Some of the options were for way bigger boats- 50+ people. We chose this one for the smaller group size (35 I believe), plus drinks and food included. We ended up only having about 20 people total, so there was plenty of space for everyone. Our guides were great, the food was traditional Costa Rican fare and honestly one of our favorite meals on the trip. We for real got drinks the entire time (we'd heard some places only give them at meal time or on the ride back.) The black sand beach was beautiful and snorkeling along the reef was a major highlight. Some of the girls were worried about getting blasted by the sun the whole time, but the boat had a large covered portion, which doubled as a dance floor. Overall, 10 out of 10 in my book! I highly recommend this tour and would absolutely book again if down in the area.

Out of all our tours in Costa Rica, it’s the only tour I won’t give a 5 stars. We did the afternoon / sunset tour. We got to our tour 15 minutes early but no one from Blue Dolphin got there until 10 minutes past. Daniel finally arrived and told us we had to be put on another boat. He said he tried to reach us (I guarantee we had no email / messages / missed calls). He then presented us our captain (still don’t know her name since she didn’t say a word) and he left. We waited until 14h05 (tour was at 13h00) until the captain told us it was time to go. The other catamaran (called hibiscus) was much older then the one advertised by Blue Dolphin. Once the tour started, one of the guide was nice and offered us drinks. They brought us on the north shore to a bay far away from the beach. They had only one kayak (which you couldn’t use to get to shore - if used, it had to be close to the catamaran). They had snorkeling gear but since we parked far away from shore, nothing could be seen. We then finished the tour before sunset, which is sad because sunsets in Tamarindo are beautiful! I would recommend to book with another company that offers similar tour.

There were no dolphins as per the adventure booking. They never mentioned why we didn’t see the dolphins. Also getting off the smaller boat it hit the rocks and stopped. It’s a great experience of being on a boat for many hours with great views but the false advertising of seeing dolphins lowered the rating.

We booked blue dolphin before arriving in Tamarindo without really knowing about the crew. Afterwards, it’s safe to say this was our favorite tour we booked during our entire stay in Costa Rica. The boat is so clean and beautiful. The staff is so friendly, welcoming, helpful, and most importantly SO much fun. The cruise was great, but then we anchored and went swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and kayaking in the ocean, and the trip got even better. Music was great. Lunch was awesome. Drinks kept coming. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Blue Dolphin!!!!

The staff were friendly and fun loving. There was plenty to eat and drink and the cove we went to was nice, but not great. It was still pretty windy and rough. Everyone was out of the water after 20 minutes. Another, smaller, boat was able to get closer to the beach and they appeared less affected by the winds and rough seas. Overall, it was fun but it didn’t blow anyone’s minds.

This whole afternoon and experience was so wonderful. Our group had such a fun and enjoyable experience. The boat was very spacious for how many people the tour includes, and everyone was able to maintain a very comfortable area to lay and take in the oceanic scenery. Our crew (Randall, Charlie, and Chute) were the BEST! They were incredibly kind and helpful. The lunch they provided was delicious and thoughtful, and there was plenty to go around. Our groups favorite was the homemade banana bread provided by Captain Chute's special family recipe. I sincerely recommend this excursion for your stay in Tamarindo!

Boat was not overcrowded, food was really good, variety of drinks and happy to serve them. We went to a great cove and had plenty of time. I could have done without the dance music but that was what the other people were into. Very well organized and safe.

I had taken a sunset catamaran trip with Blue Dolphin last year out of Coco Beach, CR with my family (husband and two younger teens). The boat on that excursion was considerably larger (with more people) more comfortable and definitely a mixed age group. It was great for my family. In Tamarindo this spring with my sister and some girlfriends, I went back to Blue Dolphin knowing it was a good experience. This boat was considerably smaller (max 36 - with only 23 aboard) and thankfully was primarily 25-50 y/olds ready to have a good time. Fun, attentive staff, good food and music on both boats. But this one felt a bit more like a party boat - nothing crazy, drinks not strong enough for stupid behavior, but I did appreciate that I was there with girlfriends and NOT my family for this one.
