Your adventure starts at 7am or 12pm after a complementary pickup from your hotel. From there, you will take a short 15 minute drive to a dirt road that leads to the canyon. Upon arrival, you will jump into a 4x4 truck, that has been outfitted for your comfort, with views of the Arenal Volcano from every seat. That ride will take an additional 15 minutes while your local guide points out toucans, sloths, monkeys, iguanas and local farms. Your guide will explain the history of the Arenal Volcano and also the local "campasino" way of life.
When you arrive at the ranch house in the mountains, the guides will put your gear on and give you a detailed explanation of how to rappel. The guides will let you go as slow or as fast as you want, safely of course. There will be a safety line controlled by a guide at the top of each rappel. This will stop from falling if you let go of your rope. You will also have a guide at the bottom of each rappel, controlling the main rappel line for additional support. Easy trails will be trekked throughout the canyon. The canyon portion of this tour is approximately 2.5-hours.
With your gear on, your guides will lead you on an easy 5-minute hike on a well maintained trail to the first rappel. After you rappel down into this spectacular hidden canyon, you will climb a short 15-foot route to the Monkey Drop zip line. You will zip line across the canyon, then rappel down from the cable to the canyon floor again. From there you hike on short well maintained trails in between each rappel. A total of 5 rappels, 4 of which are waterfalls and 1 canyon wall, as well as a rock climb. After the last rappel you will take a short hike out of the canyon to another ranch house, with bathrooms, where the guides will help you take your gear off. You will jump back into the 4x4 truck, drive back down to the vans and off to the base offices and gardens (about a 30 minute drive in total).
This tour is suitable for all skill levels, ages ranging from 5 years old to 99 years young. No upper body strength is needed, but it is recommended that you are in moderate physical condition and ready to have fun!
You will be spoiled at the base offices with beautiful changing rooms and bathrooms including all amenities, and spectacular tropical gardens. Then your guides will serve you an absolutely delicious organic Costa Rica lunch (vegetarian available upon request) with housemade tortillas, dressings, salsas and fresh tropical juice. During lunch you will be shown photos from your trip, (available for purchase). Fresh brewed Costa Rican coffee and cookies will be available for you to enjoy at your leisure. Then, you will gather back into the vans, and head to your hotel while you reflex on your unforgettable day.

This was an incredible tour! I was so nervous for such an adventurous experience but the staff at Pure Trek were amazing! They explained the entire process including all of the safety information which made me feel at ease and comfortable. I am so thankful that I trusted their advice and stepped out of my comfort zone. This was an exciting and thrilling experience while being totally safe. The staff were friendly, understanding and encouraging the entire time. Our group was so proud of ourselves after we completed the tour. The lunch provided was exceptional! It was delcious, fresh and healthy and much of it was grown locally. The photos and videos were so awesome and great keepsakes to remember this day and share with friends. I highly recommend Pure Trek Canyoning for the exciting but safe adventure, knowledgable and friendly staff and overall amazing Costa Rican experience.

Amazingly good time. Prepare to get wet, you’ll rappel through waterfalls and mostly land in pools. The guides are very friendly and extremely professional. No experience required but there is a decent short uphill hike at the end.

What an excellent experience! One of the best things we did in Costa Rica.
My only gripe was, Melvin didn't smile once and was super unwelcoming, unfriendly and not that great with kids. His crew on the other hand were fantastic!
You'll be soaking wet and are able to leave your belongings and dry clothes in lockers before you get to the forest.

This was an absolutely amazing experience. We were a group of 9 (adults and teens). The first rappell is pretty high up. We had one in our group opt not to go. The workers were wonderful to her. They encouraged her to go and then helped her get to spots where she could watch the rest of us go. We were thankful for their kindness to her. The rest of us did all of the rappelling and loved every second of it. They do a great job of making this truly an exciting and adverturous activity but also safe and fun. As soon as we finished, everyone in our group wanted to go again. Highly recommend. The food was awesome too!

Our guide was great. Gave good instructions. The trip was well organized and lots of support. I was a bit scared but they helped make it easy. Wish the biggest rappel was later but it all was fun.
