Great trip! Highly recommend. Bring water, snacks/lunch as this is not provided. Our tour guide, Mana, is a native of Kaua’i. He shared stories of growing up on the island along with Hawaiian history and folklore which was quite interesting. 2 person kayaks were utilized and in good condition. Mana gave tips on maneuvering the kayaks, where to stay on the river to conserve energy and stay safe. The hike to the waterfalls was relatively flat, but rocky in some spots. There are also a couple of water crossings, one where water came up above my knees. Would recommend good walking shoes; I used hiking boots, but my daughter had good quality water shoes. The waterfall at the end of the hike was beautiful. There was time to enjoy the site, rest and eat lunch or snacks.

My group of 3 booked this tour and showed up to the meeting point to find out that the tour is cancelled due to a flash flood warning that is happening the following day. The weather seemed pretty clear so we were confused by this. We called around and got to hop onto a different company’s tour and were able to do the kayaking portion, but unable to do the hiking portion. So they were right that weather didn’t permit hiking to the falls but we didn’t appreciate being left with a cancelled activity. Just book with a different company

Kayaking up that river was without a doubt, a beautiful sight. Much needed after all the BS dealt with back home; I'm in management & a full-time student. This is how it went... Kai & his outsiders warm welcomed, checked us in made sure we knew how to secure our own items while also introducing us to our guides, Lono, Kala, & I believe Sam, we then paddled up river, which I enjoyed every second of. The waterfall would have been perfect if it weren't such a popular attraction. The way back down was still an enjoyably sight of healthy bright colored Life. I had a GREAT time. 10/10 recomend this Al'i Kayaks guide team.

My husband and I didn't know how to kayak. We struggled a lot and we ended up being tied to the guide's kayak and being towed up the river until we got out to start hiking. The hike was challenging for us since we are not experienced hikers. The trail was super muddy and slippery, crossing knee deep current from the river, and climbing around rocks. The waterfall was beautiful. Then it was time to do everything in reverse....long hike and this time we paddled our kayak. The guide, Sam was really nice and we appreciate his help and his humor :-). After this experience, I don't think my husband and I will sign up for an activity like this again.

We had Nui as our guide. He was an awesome guide, with a funny energy and spirit. He was incredibly informative about the land and culture. He ensured we stayed safe and respectful of sacred areas while also getting to observe and learn- and experience an incredible waterfall. Nui- you are awesome, 10/10 would recommend! We took the 10 am trip. This is a busy area and seemed busier as we were returning home. Even with lots of people, there was plenty of room at the falls for swimming and/or snacking. This outfitter does not provide food, we just brought some snacks and then went out to a restaurant recommended by Nui afterwards. Great day!

Our tour guid was Sam and he was amazing! The hike was a little rainy and muddy but Sam made sure everyone was safe made it through the jungle journey. Sam especially loves to tow kayaker's up river who can't seem to keep up with the group said he enjoys the extra work out. Sam took time to educate us on local foliage and history of the area . Good joke and a great time . Thanks for the awesome tour up the River through the jungle to the falls. Can't wait to do it again.

We had Lono as our guide who made it an super fun experience. Unfortunately it rained all day which made the hike a bit muddy and slippery but he got us all through it with his jokes and humor. The kayaking and waterfall are definitely worth visiting and I would definitely recommend with a guide because they can tell so much more about the plants and culture.
