Day 1: Inka Trail short version hike
Stop At: Inca Trail, Machu Picchu Peru
The short tour to Machu Picchu starts with a pick-up from your hotel at 4 am to catch the train from Ollantaytambo. The train follows the trail of the Urubamba River until we reach Km 104, where we'll begin our trek. Then we’ll set off to visit our first Inca site. Then we’ll begin hiking as we head for the Classic Inca Trail. We'll have tremendous views of Machu Picchu, the Urubamba River, and other surrounding Inca Sites.
After hiking for three hours, we’ll reach the most beautiful Incan site on the Inca Trail, Wiñay Wayna, Few people get the opportunity to see these elaborate water fountains, temples and agricultural terraces. Here you’ll enjoy lunch that’s been freshly cooked by Alpaca Expeditions’ chefs.
From Wiñay Wayna, we’ll walk to the Sun Gate. This is where we’ll see the picturesque landscape of the famous Machu Picchu. After taking in the once-in-a-lifetime views, we’ll begin our descent to Machu Picchu and take bus down to Aguas Calientes.

Day 2: Machu Picchu
Stop At: Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region
Today will be all about Machu Picchu. To get the most out of the day we encourage every group to have an early breakfast before catching one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu. This allows you to get ahead of the crowds.
Your guide will provide a full guided tour all along the great Machu Picchu Citadel. The guided tour will last for about 2 hours, and if you have purchased Huayna Picchu tickets ($75 each, need to book in advance) you will have this extra hike after the guided tour. Your guide will give finish the tour and will wait for you at Aguas Calientes.
After lunch, you will go to the train station to catch on your train back to Ollantaytambo. Our driver will pick you up and drive you back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.

Incredible experience!!! The guides were super informative and professional (thank you Lucio and Elix!!!), the food and service was amazing (thank you Donato!!) and the camping was surprisingly comfortable. The opportunity to see Machu Picchu twice and getting a guided tour through the site was everything we imagined this bucket-list trip would be!

Amazing trip!!! Lucio and Elix were fantastic guides and SO informative both about the trails, Machu Pichu and the other ruins, and Inca culture.
Camping was fun as well - the food was phenomenal, Donato and his crew did such a good job.
Overall highly recommended for anyone who loves hiking and camping. The group is well prepared, very organized, and take care of pretty much everything so you can just enjoy your vacation. Thanks so much Lucio, Eliz, and Donato!!!!

The trail itself is incredibly lovely and varied - there is so much to see and the mountain sights are gorgeous. The vegetation, waterfall and views are beautiful.
Our tour guides Lucio and Elix were great, they explained how the two days would take place, adapted to different people’s paces, and gave interesting explanations on the sites and vegetation throughout the trail and at Machu Picchu. Our cook was Donato and the food was delicious, much more varied and yummy than what I was expecting.

Amazing experience. Victor our guide was excellent. He explained everything really well and his English was very good. All the staff were fantastic- Ismael who supported the hike and the chefs who cooked up a great Peruvian feast at lunchtime stop. Hike was tough but worth the view of Machu Picchu at the end. Great being able to skip the queues the next morning and see the sun rise over the site too. Highly recommend

It has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. The Alpaca team took great care of us, our guide Walter was extraordinary and did an admirable job, explaining everything, supporting us, making sure we were well at all times and taking all the pictures that he knew we would always remember. It is a magical trip and I doubt there is a better agency than Alpaca to do it. Rosita was also a wonderful guide. A 10!

Our trip with Alpaca was brilliant from start to finish. The organisation of the trip was smooth and efficient and the guides, Walter and Ronaldo, couldn’t do enough for us. Walter was extremely knowledgeable and led the group well. Despite the rainy conditions, Walter was positive and made sure that we all still had a brilliant couple of days, spending hours taking us around Machu Picchu and going above and beyond. He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. Similarly, Ronaldo was patient and very supportive of the differing needs of the group. The food was also excellent, cooked fresh up in the mountains.
We couldn’t recommend them both more- they are a credit to Alpaca!

The tour guides Simone Puma and Rodrigo did an amazing job picking us up from the train station and taking through the hike.
We dint have to think anything about the logistics and flawlessly executed, they have even accommodated last minute change for two of our group members, would highly recommend them

Everything was very well organized and every detail is well taken care of.
Simon our tour guide took care of our last min request to switch from night camping to hotel/ he was amazing and took care of us really well and making sure hotel is booked and we got Checked in with proper instructions.
Rodrigo our another tour guide was amazing/ even though I was falling behind in the trail he always made sure I was ok.
