Start to finish, this was the ideal day tour and ideal guide, Fernando. We had ideas on what we wanted to see around Sintra, and Fernando added expert advice to make it better. His driving and knowledge- superb. We enjoyed the variety of nature, history, viewpoints, architecture, and food (not a fancy lunch for us, but he pointed out a cafe with great local pastries- exactly what we wanted). This day was the highlight of our week in Portugal.

Our guide was a very nice person. However, this was described as a guided tour of 3 sites of your choice. We felt quite rushed & she explained very little at the sites. We learned more from listening to other people’s tour guides. Also, she tried to talk us out of seeing one of the sites. I also wish she would have told us how to pace ourselves. Because we ended up having barely 30 minutes for lunch. The only thing we could order was a charcuterie board. She told us our Peña Palace tickets were at 3. But we had no sense of how far apart things are from each other. Again she was a nice person but we have had much more informative guides

A must book experience. Rafael was by far one of the best tour guide we had in all the holiday destinations we’ve travelled to. He has a lot of knowledge and a great talent in delivering information making it engaging and fun. He goes above and beyond his duty to make sure we are okay in times where he wasn’t with us (lunch) and accommodated to our dietary needs. Not only is he a fountain of knowledge in the areas that are covered. If there are any questions he doesn’t know, he will obtain the answer with his contacts. Even after the tour he openly offered other attractions and recommendation. Providing local information on how to get to destinations and good restaurants. The tour is very worth doing, impressive sights, history rich, amazing views, eye opening sceneries.

Raphael was a fantastic guide and we learnt heaps and his knowledge was fantastic. He even bought us some pastries which were very yummy. It was a fantastic day starting at Cascais which is a beautiful coastal town and then heading to Sintra and the castles. We had a Portuguese lunch based on Raphael’s recommendation. Great tour.

Our family had an amazing full day tour of Cascais and Sintra with Fernando. To begin with the conclusion: we highly highly recommend him if you plan to visit! We were able to see the most beautiful scenic spots, free of large crowds, thanks to Fernando's excellent planning. He is a true, knowledgeable Sintra local and guided us through non-touristy areas as well as a wonderful tour of Pena palace -- on top of it all, we also were able to have a delicious lunch at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the ocean, recommended (and thoughtfully reserved ahead of time without our asking) by him. He was prompt, organized, so friendly and kind. Thanks so much for a great day :)!

Our tour guide was Suzanna and her love of Portugal was amazing. Clearly she loves History and her incredible knowledge kept us glued to her. She took us to some incredibly beautiful areas & went over & beyond what we expected. She had a great personality & dealing with the 8 of us with our joking, she had fun with us also. I would highly recommend Suzanna for any tour group. The only complaint was that Viator farmed this tour out to Swingo Tours & the vehicle was not a Mercedes van or similar, as described. We barely squeezed into the van that was provided. In the end, we had such a fabulous time, we forgot all about the van issue.

We had a marvelous day with this tour. The tour operator gives you a list of 9 places to visit. After booking you choose 3 of the 9 for your tour. We chose Cascais, Sintra, and Rigaleira. Our guide was Ricardo, and he was amazing. We felt like we were traveling with a celebrity because he knew everybody! On the way to Cascais, we stopped at the "hell mouth." This site was formed by the earthquake and tsunami that hit this area in the 1700s. From there, we arrived at Cascais. We had free time to roam about. We did a little shopping and took some pictures. Cascais is a very wealthy area and reminds you of Nice or Monaco. From there, we went to Rigaleira. What a beautiful place. You hike up to a well that was built for the freemasons to induct members. We explored this site during free time. From there, we walked to central Sintra and had lunch at a restaurant Ricardo recommended. The food was everything he said it would be. From there, we went to Pena Palace. We upgraded our tickets to include the "skip the line" option. I recommend everyone doing this. Ricardo guided us through the Palace. We saw and learned so much. It's worth the extra money to pay for the private tour, especially if your guide is Ricardo.

Fantastic tour with a fun and knowledgeable guide. We had a great day of weather so the views from Pena Palace were incredible and Rafael was a really enthusiastic guide who was able to tell us loads of interesting facts throughout the tour and take some great photos for us. The driving was all very smooth and easy and we felt well taken care of.
