We will discover the colorful streets of Sintra while hearing fantastic stories about its history. After having a walk through the center you will learn about the fascinating architecture behind the National Palace in Sintra and before leaving you will taste its unique and delicious pastry, a delicacy which locals have been selling for more than two hundred years.

Stop At: Castelo dos Mouros, Estrada da Pena Parque de Monserrate, Sintra 2710-609 Portugal
Admire this X century castle in the middle of the lush forest of Sintra. You will get to know about the North African Moors who build it and about the Christians who conquered it 4 centuries later.
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Quinta da Regaleira, Rua Barbosa do Bocage, Sintra 2710-567 Portugal
After, we will enter a place that will make you feel in wonderland: Palace of Quinta da Regaleira. A place full of magic, romantic architecture and beautiful gardens. You will walk through its caves before you get to know the famous 27 meter iniciatic well and the stories behind it.

Stop At: Parque e Palacio de Monserrate, R. Visc. de Monserrate, Sintra 2710-591 Portugal
We will stop for a few minutes to admire the amazing views of this 19th century summer palace. You will learn about its famous owner and his exorbitant hobbies, while admiring the unique architecture behind it.

Stop At: Praia das Azenhas do Mar, R. Dr. Antonio Brandao de Vasconcelos 40, Colares 2705-084 Portugal
Embark on a beautiful drive where you will encounter the picturesque and hidden towns of Colares and Penedo until we reach the coastline and the amazing village of Azenhas do Mar. Azenhas do Mar offers one of the best viewpoints where you will be able to appreciate this breathtaking fisherman’s town

Stop At: Praia Grande, Av. Alfredo Coelho, Sintra Portugal
We will stop at this amazing rock cliff beach in the coast. In Praia Grande you will have lunch in a beachfront local restaurant that offers delicious sea food and meat choices. For those curious to try Portuguese cuisine, this is the perfect place.

Stop At: Estrada Cabo da Roca, Colares 2705-001 Portugal
Explore the impressive coastline through secret places on our way to Cabo da Roca- The westernmost point of continental Europe. This place is what we call the end of the world. Be ready to admire the magnificent views and its cliffs.

Stop At: Park and National Palace of Pena, Estrada da Pena, Sintra 2710-609 Portugal
End the day with the most colorful and magnificent palace in Sintra: the Pena Palace. A national monument that constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. It is unique and it’s a classic example of the romanticism period in Portugal and in Europe. At the top you will have the best views toward Lisbon, Sintra, and Cascais.

John is an AMAZING guide. He knows so much about all of Portugal and just made the day really fun and enjoyable for our family of 5. We travel a lot and even my 20 year-old son said “he’s the best guide we’ve ever had…anywhere.” The tour of Sintra, Quita de Regaleira, and Peña Palace were awesome and John knew just the order to do them in and how to maximize our time. We also had an amazing lunch while enjoying a beautiful beach view, and he picked us up and battled horrible rush hour and rainy traffic to get us back to our hotel in time for our dinner reservations. He even provided suggestions for places to go after we left Lisbon. I’d recommend this tour and, specifically, John to anyone. A perfect day!

Our guide was lovely Marta and we had a magical day. We were picked up at our apartment which was very convenient. We started the day in Sintra with a pastry and then walked around the old city and toured a beautiful palace and gardens. Lunch was a trip to nearby beach and fabulous local seafood restaurant. Returned back to Sintra for Pina Palace. Marta was a great guide and we all had a fabulous day. Highly recommend day in Sintra and Picta Travel.

We had an outstanding trip to Sintra with Lawrence. He walked to our hotel, having parked a block away because no cars allowed on our street. We set off for Sintra, with Lawrence narrating fascinating points of interest and facts of Portuguese life along the way. Arrived in charming, busy, touristy, historical Sintra, where Lawrence took us to Palace Nacional de Sintra. Super-interesting! Then to Piriquita for incredible pastry-wow! After that, Quinta de Regaleira and its mystical forest and atmosphere. Next, an elegant lunch right on the Atlantic shoreline. Soooo good! Then the mind-blowing Pena Palace, with its colors and architecture and vertigo-inducing views. What a fantastic day, all thanks to the knowledge, expert driving skills, easy-going nature, friendliness and tour-guiding expertise of Lawrence! Ask for him and go on this multiple wow-moment adventure! It will be the highlight of your trip to Portugal.

The tour of Sintra was amazing! We visited Quita da Regaleira and Palace of Pena which were amazing! Gabriela (our tour guide) was very accommodating and provided us with a lot of history about the points of interest. She was quick to re-route us to the Palace as there was an accident, which could have affected our tour. The day was rainy but thanks to Gabriela we were equipped for the weather. Loved Sintra, definitely a must do!

Wow this was such a great tour with Lawrence! He gave alot of history but we really loved his sense of humor and easy going nature. He pointed out things we would have never seen on our own. Had a fabulous lunch with him & it was like lunching with a new friend.

Antonio is Amazing! He took us to some great places including a pastry shop that had pastries specific to Sintra. He had great recommendations that helped tailor not only what we wanted to do, but in the order of his experience in terms of how busy places were. He even gave us some time to do some exploring on our own and met us up when we were ready, but made sure that we were on a schedule so that we can see all the things we wanted to see within the day. He was also quite personable and knowledgeable in terms of the history. This is honestly one of THE BEST experiences I have had. Having a personal guide with recommendations from his experiences is definitely the way to go. We got to know him well and it made the experience even more special. I am truly grateful for this experience and highly recommend this tour. Thank you Antonio! We very much appreciate all that you were able to show us and do for us. Good luck to you.

Lourenço Horta, our private group guide in Scintra absolutely made the day for us. From our pickup and drive to Scintra and throughout the tour his knowledge, his care, his professionalism and his incredible driving skills in the rain on precarious roads was outstanding.
We were 6 folks in our 60’s and we loved the Scintra palaces. The history and fairyland type setting was spectacular. Don’t miss out on taking in this part of Portugal. It’s well worth the time and make sure you ask for Lourenço!

Lourenço Horta was a great guide. He had a real depth of history of Sintra and Portugal. His presentation throughout the tour was easy to follow and liked the key places we visited. He was also very relaxed and personable making the tour that much more enjoyable. I would recommend him to anyone wanting a great tour experience!

Lourenco Horta was our driver to Sintra this week. He was an amazing driver and very knowledgeable along the way. He chose great stops for pastries/coffee in the am and then lunch by the seaside where we sampled some truly great Portuguese food. Regaleira was fascinating and the initiation walk down into the ground was fascinating.
The weather was on and off to Sintra and it took expert manoeuvring by Lourenco to get us up the slippery roadway near the top. He was a champ!
A wonderful trip and would recommend this driver! Obrigado!!
