Stop At: The Alhambra, Calle Real de la Alhambra, s/n Palacio de Carlos V, 18009 Granada Spain

The best-conserved palace from the Al-Andalus Islamic sovereigns in Spain. Really one of the most amazing monuments you can visit.

Duration: 3 hours

Pass By: Alcazaba, Calle Real de la Alhambra Conjunto Monumental de la Alhambra y el Generalife, 18009 Granada Spain

The most ancient part of the Alhambra, the military part. We'll be able to see the whole city from its towers.

Pass By: Palace of Carlos V, Alhambra, 18009 Granada Spain

The Palace of Charles V is the only Renaissance building inside the Alhambra, located on the top of the Sabica hill. The building has never been a home to a monarch and stood roofless until 1957.

Pass By: Palacio El Partal, Calle Real de la Alhambra 2, 18009 Alhambra Spain

A small pergola leads to a wide esplanade corresponding to the lower terrace of the Partal. To the left is the architectural structure for which the location is named: the Partal Palace portico.

Pass By: Generalife Realejo-San Matias, 18009 Granada Spain

Summer Palace of the Alhambra and the beautiful gardens. The palace was used by the Muslim royalty as a place of rest. It was designed as a rural villa in the vicinity of the Alhambra, with decorative garden, fruit and vegetable patches, courts and other structures.

The taxi took us to the wrong location. We were waiting for someone to show up. Then we missed the start time and contacted the support email. Then we needed to get back to the place to pick up the tickets. We tried to get a taxi and couldn’t get a taxi??? We decided to walk and emailed the support again to find out how much we had missed and what we had missed out on. Didn’t get an answer, so gave up and went home.

Our memories are not necessarily positive!! It was a strenuous hike for at least 3 miles, with Clara talking incessantly about the history. Thought the Information was much appreciated, she was walking fast, and she had no idea if her group was still with her, most of the time! Your tour should be advertised as “extreme walking, and climbing”! One of our party was unable to continue within 5 minutes and had to wait at the plaza. Clara wasn’t even aware that he had stopped as she kept walking and talking

I can't even imagine touring Alhambra without a guide. The history is so involved. I read reviews beforehand where people complained about the headsets being "crankily" but that only happens when you wander away from the guide. Common sense of you know how radio frequencies work. Highly recommended!

Roberto is very knowledgeable and truly passionate about his own city in general. He even shared his best tapas bars and viewpoints. We had some issues with the headphones but he did his best to fix the issue. The three hours passed by very fast!

Great tour. Roberto was a source of lots of interesting information about the Alhambra and Generalife - it is a place you really need a guide to be able to understand. It was a bit of a rush to complete the tour in the allotted time (3 hours) but the place was really busy with lots of visitors, tour parties and so on.

We received last minute notification we would not have a guide for the Alhambra tour. Play Granada gave us only two options, go without a guide and get a city walk tour the same afternoon, or cancel for full refund. As our only reason to travel to Granada was to see the Alhambra we went (no way would there be time to do both Alhambra and the city walk tour the same day). Nacho with Play Granada didn't even mention that the Alhambra has self guided tours..you just need to bring ear buds. We ended up hiring our own guide at the Alhambra (there were many there). We paid Play Granada for a guided tour, their excuse was not enough participants for the tour. So we end up paying for a guide twice. Not at all professional. Don't hire Play Granada. Nacho provided poor service, poor communication, and was not courteous.

It would seem you cannot visit without booking a tour guide which is a way to make a quick buck I guess. In my case the last minute tour booking cost 300 euros. One would expect audio guide with no sound issues at the very least, which did not prove to be the case. Hearing static on headphones, and the constant questions of the guide about what we hear was rather taking away from the whole experience of visiting Alhambra. Moreover, in such a crowded place it is unwise to have a single earpiece as the sound of people is sure to overcome your headphones. In the end I just took off headphones and did not follow the tour. Information provided was rather trivial, spending a lot of time on stops before you even get to the alcazaba which is the oldest part of the alhambra complex. You are better off going on wikipedia and checking for yourself the details you want. Other than an extensive complex with gardens and buldings permeated by the effervescent scent of roses arranged in beautiful garden spots, there is not much more. The Carlos V palace is just another building for those that have had their fair share of palace seeing around europe, the Alhambra museum is interesting but disappointing as many exhibits lack tags in english.
