Itinerary

Our enthusiastic huskies will take to on a unique once-in-a lifetime experience, that will become the highlight of your winter holidays in Lapland. Let the dogs lead you through Arctic nature, while you enjoy the surrounding beauty.

After arrival to Parpalandia, the tour starts in the husky kennel. Here you will receive driving and safety instructions. After that, you are ready to take your place in the sled and start steering your own husky team. In this exciting adventure, we will be driving approximately 6-10km. We will take a break in the middle to take great pictures with our cute four-legged friends.

Normally two people share a sled, one is steering and one sitting on the sled. It is possible, and recommended, to change the positions in the middle of the track. Small children can sit together with an adult. An experienced musher will guide the tour all the time.

Once back in the kennel, we invite you to our kota for a small snack. Here you can warm up and learn more about huskies and Parpalandia. We are happy to answer your questions about huskies, their training and daily life.

Best Husky Mushing Experience ever. The booking and journey experience was amazing, The driver picked up on time and was very friendly and informative. The instructions from the staff was great. It was 8km of amazing views and experience we ever had. This is the only place to go in Rovaniemi for Husky Mushing.. I would recommend it to everyone.

Wow!! This was INCREDIBLE!!! We absolutely loved this and it was the highlight of our trip. We’re on a budget, but this was still well worth the money spent. The best thing about this ride is that you are truly out in the wilderness, nothing else around. Snow was high, even in April, so you felt like you were driving down a snow tunnel. The guides were great giving info on the dogs and also took amazing photos of us. The length felt just right. You get to drive for half, then swap with your partner and sit in the sleigh. Just as you’re getting cold and the thrill has worn off, it ended. And then you get to cuddle the dogs and go into a little wooden hut for sausage! A few things to note. The ride is maybe 20-40mins? Somewhere around there but feels much longer as you are in the middle of the forest. The dogs are Alaskan huskies, not the big fluffy huskies if you’re set on that type of breed. But it’s actually more ethical to have Alaskan huskies in Finland (than Siberian) and the dogs LOVED a pat afterwards. They are honestly so cute, they looked like Balto!!! It’s also a 45 min drive in the car south, but it went quick and worth it to get the scenery on the dog ride. The other good thing is we never felt rushed. Heaps of time with the dogs, heaps of time in the hut. Even went sledding for a bit. Perfect!! Please book this it’s sooooo good!!!!!

The highlight of our trip. The tour was very enjoyable and the guides were super friendly! Afterwards, we were allowed to cuddle with the dogs and received refreshments in a very cozy Finnish cabin.

Great experience. I struggled to find a small company whom I could book a solo experience with. These guys were great, I shared the sled with the husky owner - we drove half of the tour each but even sitting in the sled with someone who knew what they were doing was fun! They also provided pick up which was great. We travelled through the woods - the huskies knew the way!

Just the most amazing experience from being picked up by a very polite gentleman to the ride, meeting the huskies and then the sausages and hot drink in the little hut around a glowing warm fire! I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

It was an AMAZING experience. The trail is just magical, the views are incredible. The ride feels like a bonafide husky sled ride, not like others that take around a track, here you are actually riding fast about an hour through the frozen forest. The only thing I did not like is that compared to other activities the guides did not provide any information about the dogs, the area, or general information about the experience. It was just instructions on what to wear and how to ride and that’s it. No more. I would still come back.

Went with my son in early December. It's a little bit away from Rovaniemi (45 mins)but the pay off once you get there and see how you are situated in the wilderness really makes it worth it. We got changed into more appropriate boots as we had our own insulated jackets/trousers but there is tonnes of clothing there should you need it. First off we met the dogs and some of the team members who were all very friendly and useful in explaining everything. The dogs seem very well looked after, happy and crazy eager to be going out on another ride. Not to spoil it but that husky sled ride is one of the best things I've done anywhere on any holiday I've ever been on. We had a small break then with some hot punch/cordial before Ismo (the owner) took us out on the snowmobiles. Again another fantastic experience and my son got to have a turn driving at one point. It really is serene and peaceful out there and obviously the owner knows the huge estate like the back of his hand which is good as every track can end up looking the same as some point. We returned to main buildings after about 3 hours of total husky/snowmobiling activity. The owner then served us some salmon soup which was delcious and after a tour of one of his lodges ended up dropping us back to Rovaniemi. 2 important things. Yes it's not the cheapest or most easily located husky ride in or near Rovaniemi but the experience, lack of big crowds, the location and the friendliness of staff/owner make it absolutely worth it. In fact if I'd paid a good bit more I still would not have been disappointed. Secondly book directly through parapalandia web site NOT through a third party as all the revenue goes to the upkeep of the estate, the dogs, employees etc rather giving away a portion to a middle man. One of the best things I've ever done, a bucket list item but something I'd hope to do again if I get the chance.

Eventough we had some pick up problems (no Info email about the time) the rest of the experience was great, beautiful scenery, enough time to enjoy, meet the dogs, eat and get Infos. The dog sledding by yourself is a lot of fun and I would love to do it again :)

On Monday morning me and my girlfriend we visited the husky farm and we did a sledding experience with the dogs. We met Erika and Nora, 2 amazing girls who work at the farm and look after the dogs. It was incredible how to see how much love and passion they put into their job. They taught us so many things about huskies, how they take care of them, and how to build a strong relationship with the dog. We really recommend anyone coming to Rovaniemi to visit their farm and do a tour with them, it was pure joy for us to immerse ourselves in their world, and we think Nora and Erica were the best people to meet because of their passion. Thanks one more time for the incredible experience.

It was absolutely amazing!! The driver and all the staff were welcoming and accommodating, making sure everything was ok. The dogs were so energetic and ready to go as soon as they saw us arrive. We got a quick lesson for the drivers of the cart (yes we get to drive!) and then we were ready to go as well. During the ride with the team we made our way out of the farm and into the forest. Winding through the trees on a well worn but interesting path, the best moments were when it opened up into an open field. With the falling snow and the dogs rushing and panting in front of you it is magical. We had a couple of stops to deal with the dogs getting tangled (and someone had a small tumble) but overall it was really smooth and just an incredible journey with the dogs. Afterwards the team brought us into the kota (hut) and we had some sausages with sauces and some warm berry juice. We all warmed up and talked amongst ourselves for a while, got our license to dog sled, and headed out. What a perfect day. Thanks so much to the team and especially the dogs that all worked so hard!
