Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Skodje Bridges, Skodje, Skodje 6260 Norway

5. Our first stop will be the old Skodje bridges. We stop on one side and you can hike through the area over 2 bridges and a tunnell. The bus will wait for you on the other side.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Liabygda Ringsetskiftet, Liabygda, Norway

10. ViewPoint by the sea On our way to ViewPoint by the sea, we pass the old Rose Church in Stordal. Built in year 1789. Another fantastic ViewPoint close to Liabygda. Down to the left, you can see a salmon fishfarm, to the right, we see the town Stranda where the Grandiosa pizza-factory is located. Across the fjord, we see the fjord going to Geiranger and Hellesylt. Up on the mountain to the left, you can see the mountain farm Skrednakken. This is the farm our Norwegian Queen Sonja visited some years ago. Don't forget to take some nice photos.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Gudbrandsjuvet, Route 63 Rv 63, Valldal 6210 Norway

20. Gudbrandsjuvet is a river gorge in the river Valldøla. The watery river flows between gorges and cracks in the mountain and meets from rather unexpected angles, before it flows under the bridge and plunges further down the valley. The gully is partly formed by several large potholes. The water feature is a tourist attraction, and platforms and bridges have been built in a mixture of glass and rust-corroded iron in both walls and floors. Here is a cafeteria and also free toilets available. You must try their Salmon baguette. So good !

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Krikebrua, 6210 Valldal, Norway

25. The old bridge by Krikebrua Mother Nature ! I think this is one of the most fantastic stop on our trip. We stop on a small place with a free toilet and some benches for lunch. Then we hike together about 3 to 4 minutes on the other side of the road. There we will see an old bridge (built in 1891) and a gorgeous waterfall and river above. The bridge is built of rocks only. No concrete or steel inside the construction. Mini Lunch with Norwegian lefse, coconut bun and hot coffee/tea will be served here. You may bring your Mini Lunch in the bus. Please use the bins in the bus for your garbage.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Trollstigen, Åndalsnes, 6300 Norway

30. Trollstigen ViewPoints is the main stop on our trip. There are 2 ViewPoints available, one is about 5 Minutes of walking, and the best one is about 10 Minutes of walking from the bus. The path to these viewpoints is laid in concrete and has solid safety fences around it. A souvenir shop and free toilets are also available in Trollstigen. There is also a cefeteria selling sandwiches, coffee and soft-ice cream. Also hot meals are available here.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Trollstigen foothill viewpoint, Andalsnes 6300 Norway

35. Down from Trollstigen You will see 11 hairpin curves on our way down from Trollstigen. We will also cross Stigfoss bridge on our way. All curves are named after people who built the road. Trollstigen was opened for traffic in 1936. This is one of the best stops (again), and we stop under the Trollstigen looking upwards the mountains and waterfalls. Just stunning in my opinion !! You may also see the best ViewPoint on the top hanging out from the mountain. Remember, this is The Land Of The Trolls !

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Isterdalen, Rauma, Norway

40. Trollstigen Gjestegård Here you will see many famous Trolls, buy a soft-ice cream or just use the free bathrooms. Edmund Meyer (on the picture) is the owner of this wonderful place. How many trolls in total can you see here at Trollstigen Gjestegård ? The boss of the Trollsl is located on the other side of the road (on the top of the rock there). This is the last stop, before we return back to Ålesund again.

Duration: 15 minutes

Unfortunately the road was closed due to rock slides but they brought us to different area’s through several mountains and water falls. We took 3 different ferries. Despite the rain that day, we really enjoyed this excursion. Morton, our guide, an ex police officer in Stavanger was entertaining and knowledgable. Would recommend.

Well organised excursion. Pick up located right next to cruise terminal. Comfortable tour bus. The drivers and guides are all locals and have the knowledge and insights that come with that. Very friendly and open to conversation. Itinerary changed due to weather but the Norangsdalen ‘alternative’ itinerary was stunning. Very well organised. No long periods of time getting to each spot. Plenty of photo opps, 3 ferry transfers and lunch included (very tasty). A great day out. You won’t regret it!

We booked this tour way before our cruise start. When we arrived Alesund, Trollstigen, is not opened. Of course, tour operator has warned us and sent us an email for the alternate tour before cruise start and offered free cancelation. Since, we do not find anything else interesting at Alesund, we sticked with this alternative tour. We were really happy about this alternative tour. Our tour guide / driver - Mortten is the best. He was funny and interesting. The trip was so beautiful that we were constantly in shock and awe. We saw all the best scenery of Norway fjords, glaciers, lakes, and mountains. It made us want to go back to visit Trollstigen. btw, tour operator even provided free lunch, which was not included originally, and it a delicious Norwegian sandwich. Thanks for provide us such great memory in our whole trip.

Trip was cancelled due to problems with Troll road. However, we were offered a different tour that covered fjords, 3 ferries, glorious scenery, great waterfall, informative driver and good packed lunch - probably better than original trip. However, excellent weather did help !!

Our cruise to Norway involved several trips which we planned ourselves, picking this one up via Trip Advisor utilising 'Local trips AS' (resulting in a saving of £75 pp against cruise price). Upon docking at the cruise point our meeting point was within 100m and we were greeted by our hosts for the day, the venture is in a comfortable mini bus and lasts over 6 hours. Unfortunately our trip to Trollstigen was cancelled due to snow so we were taken on the alternative to Norangsdalen. The trip was itemised with every stop identified, duration and availability of WC's. It involved three Ferry Rides as we jumped across the Fjords and many opprtunities to take photos, stopping off at a Ski Resort, Waterfalls, and visiting picturesque villages. Although not on the itinary we were given a packed lunch that was very welcome and delicious. Our hosts Lief and Morgan were excellent anf full commentary, in English, was available for the entire trip. An absolute great day out, worth every penny.

This tour exceeded my expectations and was a highlight of the 2 weeks I spent in Norway. Trond was entertaining and knowledgeable being a native of the area. There was a picnic snack served which was just enough. We made numerous stops and all were incredible, there was a road side stand selling fruit - the rasberries were huge and delish! I highly recommend this day tour. I have way too many photos but will post a few.

Loved the tour! The troll road was closed but we enjoyed the alternate route, very picturesque. We had sun, rain and snow. I would have liked to hear more about life in Norway, but that is just a personal preference.

The tour was great. Unfortunately the road to Trollstigen was closed due to heavy snow . But the company had a plan b We visited mountains, fjords and crossed 3 fjords on ferries. The weather was bad. Raining , snowing and cold. If was was better weather the scenery would have been spectacular. But we had a great day. The driver was fabulous and gave us lots of information on many d subjects. I would highly recommend this company and the tour. It was one of the best tours we did in Norway. Thanks.

Our Trollstigen trip was cancelled because of road closure as the wintery weather arrived early. We were offered an alternate tour route and were so glad we proceeded with it. A full day of sightseeing with three ferry crossings and lunch. It was a really great day out and we got to see some amazing scenery that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise… fjords, snow (yay!!!), beautiful little villages and landscapes and ended in Ålesund after a trip up the look out. The service was top class and our driver was local and obviously very knowledgeable. Loved his commentary and especially the more personal stories that one could relate to. Wouldn’t hesitate to book with LocalTrips AS again or recommend them to others. What a special part of the world. The scenery is breathtaking!

Unfortunately Trollstigen was closed due to the weather on the day of our tour. Trong sent us an email the day before advising us of that fact and offering us an alternative tour or we could cancel. We decided to go on the alternative trip to Norangsdalen & Fiords and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were given a schedule and it was followed perfectly and we arrived back at the port in plenty of time for our ship’s departure. If I’m ever back in the area I would definitely use them again. Highly recommend!!!
