Our guide, Ricardo was excellent. He introduced us to many local flavors and set the stage by telling us about the events that led to the foods that are the staples of Portuguese cuisine.
We really liked the pork steak sandwich called bifana, which was basically a marinated pork steak on a crusty roll served with very vinegary mustard. We enjoyed tasting the octopus ceviche and the traditional pastry of Lisbon, pastel de nata. Ricardo did an excellent job explaining the flavors of the dishes, and his story arcs were brilliant.
