It started great but was just downhill from there, unfortunately. At the gate, I found the most friendly and helpful staff. My husband, who had recently acquired residency in the US, didn't have an FL ID as you need that process to be completed. The staff understood and accepted a valid marriage license as proof that he was a resident to honor the ticket price. We entered, and as a first-time visitor (long-time Disney fan), I thought, wow, this will be wonderful. Unfortunately, not the case. It started going downhill at the Today Show Cafe. At the entrance, we decided to grab something before we headed to Harry Potter. The staff attending to customers were wearing disheveled uniforms and yelling at each other over customers' coffee orders. When a customer wants customization, the person taking the order has to type it out. Not sure why I needed to have that explained to me, but as we were up, the people behind the counter were more focused on the coffee customization than my order. I had to repeat it three times, and they didn't get it correct until the third time. While we waited to receive our food, a very nice gentleman was working to clean up. He was very focused on singing and entertaining, which is nice, but the confetti from Mardi Gras was all over the floor and in an overflowing trashcan. It would have been better to have spent time cleaning than singing. Overall, the food was mediocre for the price. We then made our way to Diagon Alley. The overall appearance is excellent. However, it's due for a refresh as several spots were well worn out. We went to get some Butter Beer and Pumpkin Juice, which were good. After that, we made our way to Olivander's, which was a little on the hockey side for the show. Upon buying a wand, we went to see if Escape From Gringotts had a reasonable wait time. It said 95 minutes, but we bit the bullet and got in the queue. Unfortunately, it took a lot longer as the ride broke down, but it was my spirit that was broken that bothered me. We were put in the last car when we got to the actual ride. Now my husband wears a size 32 pants and me a 38, with he being an M and me an XL in shirts. While not thin, I am not morbidly obese, and there were most definitely people a lot larger than me who were getting on the ride. As I was sitting in the middle and the gentleman who was a lot larger than me was man-spreading, my safety bar wouldn't go down. The attendant came over and told the gentleman, his daughter, and me to get up but my husband to stay. He had us deboard the ride and told the man and his daughter to record. I asked what was going on, and he said, "You're too fat to ride ." I was enraged. I had to walk by all the riders and over to the family swap area. One of the other attendants apologized as he said he shouldn't have said that. Again, I am not a thin person, but I can shop at any regular clothing store and fit perfectly fine on other rides. I was flat-out shocked. My husband loves Harry Potter, but he wanted to get off. Before they led told him to enjoy. He did not, and it was honestly heart-wrenching as he is a huge fan. We then made our way to the Simpsons, despite my wanting to leave as I was so upset. We rode the ride, which was OK. Then I wanted to go to Moe's. While there, we had to listen to Beebs (her name), the bartender, complain about her manager and her colleague. I guess Moe complains in the Simpsons, so maybe that's a thing. What isn't a thing is that her colleague did speak rough Spanish but was trying at least what he wasn't trying to insult the Brazilian lady who was asking if she could buy just a beer stein with no beer. Given Brazilians speak Portuguese, I translated for her and told him it's not Spanish. He looked at me and said, "Whatever, it's mostly the same." Well, 80% is similar, but that's true of many romance languages; however, don't dismiss 250 million native speakers' primary language. It was rude and insensitive, but that seems to be almost all the employees we encountered. I speak four languages fluently but don't try to speak Mandarin to a Cantonese person and say it's the same thing. I had enough, but we made our way to one last ride, Transformers. It wasn't very impressive and honestly wasn't worth the wait. It could be that by this point, I was thoroughly disappointed with Universal, but I think a lot of the rides are a bit of a letdown. Overall, I probably won't go back, nor would I recommend it.

So I’ll try not to compare this to Disney since they are two totally different parks. I visited both the Hollywood location and this location many years ago before Islands of adventure. This park is cool, has all sorts of streets designed to look like NY and Hollywood/Beverly Hills. It’s cool to see all streets and various storefronts and it has a Central Park area with walkways and also a waterfront which is the central portion of the park. There are a bunch of rides here, mostly movie simulator type rides, 4D and screens etc. There is one coaster, the Rip Rocking coaster which is pretty good, really intense and plays all types of music on it your choosing. There is Fast and Furious, Minions, Jimmy Fallon Races NY, Men in Black, there is also Simpson land and a little kids area with smaller rides. Theres not many food options here except Mel’s Diner and I felt like they could of had more, there is also wide open spaces with nothing in it, where I thought they could of done more with as well. Big stage area near Men in Black was desolate. The Harry Potter Area, is cool but almost crammed into one corner of the park, with the purple bus, Harry Potter apartment and then Kings Crossing and the alley area. The alley area was cool but thought it fit better over in Islands of Adventure near the castle. The screen 4D rides were ok, but Fast and Furious was sort of dumb and minions was cool, not bad, the Gringotts ride was cool and Hogwarts Express was equally done well. Men in Black was ok. Jimmy Fallon ride was sort of pointless. Transformers was cool. There are a bunch of gift shops here as well, similar items at each shop, most of them ride type stores. They could fill in a lot of the sparse areas with more stuff. Overall not bad, but glad they have Islands of Adventure otherwise this park would be a waste of money.

Myself and my girlfriend are staying at a universal resort for 3 weeks, with a 14 day park hopper ticket. I have been visiting these parks since 2 years old, now 24 and totalling 15 visits to Orlando over my lifetime. It pains me to rate the park 4 out of 5, as I have always seen this as a 5 star experience. I have to say, the parks are a little rundown in areas now and this confuses me given that prices have soared. I can clearly see that the focus is on finances, rather than guest experience. There are far too many people admitted on any given day, leading to longer queues for rides, food, refreshments and shops. Surely the income gained from hiking prices would translate into an enhanced experience in the parks? But I’m no accountant. USO and IOA were parks for families and also thrill seekers. IOA still is for sure, however, USO seems to have sold out. Great attractions such as Jaws and Twister, or Earthquake, have been removed in favour of franchise attractions Fast & Furious and Jimmy Fallon. Along with it went some of the magic and fun of going to this park. I wouldn’t bother riding F&F or Fallon - I don’t even join the queue on a quiet day when the wait time is 10 minutes. Bland, boring rides clearly constructed for a cash injection to the parks at the great expense of loss of character and nostalgic fun. More confusing is that the park has a lot of Jaws, Earthquake and Twister branded souvenirs (see refillable cup pic attached) - but there’s no ride anymore! These were hands down some of the best attractions at this park, certainly those which I have the fondest memories of whilst growing up. I would rank islands of adventure 5/5 for sure, their rides are much better and the general experience transports me back to being a kid and enjoying both parks. This is exactly how these places should make you feel, as after all, every adult is a kid when it comes to these places. Such a shame that Universal removed some really good rides and sold out to franchises like Fast & Furious for 4D attractions that lack any form of thrill.

Folks, I grew up in the Orlando area. I would go to this park or IoA almost everyday after school as a kid. I have watched as Universal Studios has become more and more crowded by the year. Last time I went was on a free ticket from a family friend that works there. Got to go on 2 rides in 6 hours without express pass. Express pass used to be a very short wait but even that line looks long. Until they start capping how many people can enter, I would advise against going to ANY of the major parks in the Orlando area. Unfortunately these companies are trying to wring every cent they can out of tourists so I doubt it will ever go back to how it was.

Park to Park tickets are a must to do all of Harry Potter. We did the express pass on top of park ticket and it was totally worth it. Our one bad experience was that we needed to swap a Fuel Rod cell phone charger and the machine was blocked off due to production filming and Team Leader Zach would not allow us to cross the barrier 3 feet to swap it in the machine. Instead, he recommended we leave the park to find one on City Walk. Not impressed with Customer Service by Team Leader Zach.

Had a great day here. I completely geeked out at Springfield. The Simpsons ride was a lot of fun. After we went for a Krusty Burger and then a Duff beer. My other favourite ride was Transformers. It was well done and fun. As a bonus we got to take pictures with Bumblebee afterwards. Fast and Furious was a disappointing ride. The Harry Potter world on this side is not as good as the Island of Adventure side so make sure you get a multi-park pass and take the Hogwarts train over.

I have been going to Universal Studios for several years and have always enjoyed it. This time it seemed very disorganized and it was so overcrowded. I always pay for the park to park tickets with express pass. Usually the lines are long but this time they were excessive - even the express were congested. My main complaint is I bought the tickets through the Universal Studios app and chose the dates based on the park hours which showed til 10 pm. No where did it mention a grad night and the parks would close at 6 pm. If I had seen that anywhere I would have NEVER purchased them for those dates. I bought them over a month in advance and specifically went through the calendar to view the park hours just to see when they started staying open later. I spent over $1600 for three of us for two days with express pass. Since the park closed 4 hours early I feel we were !#$! out of 8 hours. Also the teenagers come in the park early and would let all their friends skip ahead so your queue for 1.5 hours turned to 2 or more. People were complaining and the workers simply said "it's grad night" Even with an express pass you will not ride all the rides because of the long waits. The Motorbike Ride and the Velocicoaster wait times were 1-2+ hours. I had three people with me who had never been to Universal and they were crushed they hadn't even made it through the first park before we were rudely ushered out at 6 without even an explanation. Another visitor there was kind enough to let us know it was grad night. The next day we weren't able to really enjoy the park because the entire day was spent rushing to try and ride all the rides before the park closed. I've read several reviews where people who bought tickets were unaware of the grad night because it was not listed. I would have NEVER bought tickets and assigned them for these days. It would be one thing if the grad night happened during the hours of 6 to 10 pm and the people who also paid for the dates could also stay but they herded everyone out of the park. Not only did I and others waste money but it soured the experience you want your guests to have when visiting Universal. I feel cheated out of a full day and hate that first time visitors had this lasting experience.

Absolute blast!! The first day we didn’t have an Express but even then a lot of rides were still pretty accessible. Wizarding World rides had the biggest wait times but it is still relatively new so I’m not surprised. The second day we got the Express and it is definitely worth the money to have it. We got through so many rides really fast. I was also pleasantly surprised at the affordability of the food. Lots of reasonable options in the park including healthier fresh stuff like salads and fruit. The prices being pretty comparable to what I would get at the store at home. TIP: Bring a dry change of clothes into the park and cluster all the water rides on Island of Adventure one after the other. Or save it til the very end of your day.
