Begin your full-day tour with a visit to Coyoacán, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Mexico City, dating back to pre-Hispanic times. As you stroll the cobblestone streets and see 16-century mansions, learn about the history of this area and its colonial legacy from your knowledgeable guide.

Listen to how the neighborhood turned into a cultural hotspot, attracting artists and intellectuals in great numbers.

Duration: 1 hour

Pass By: Xochimilco, Mexico City Mexico

Xochimilco is an agricultural area located 17 miles (28 km) south of Mexico City where many of the city’s flowers are grown. Back in Aztec times, this valley was once a lake. Learn how the local people, as a way around the lack of farmland, developed islands with floating reed mats loaded with soil and used them as gardens called chinampas. Today, these gardens are an ecological reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Stop At: Floating Gardens of Xochimilco, Southern neighborhood of Xochimilco, Mexico City Mexico

Board a colorful, flat-bottomed boat called a trajinera with your guide, and for an hour take a slow cruise on the chinampa channels, passing by floating gardens of flowers. As your boatman moves the vessel along by pulling a pole through the water, hear from your guide about the characteristic boats, originally hollowed from logs and once used for transportation throughout Mexico.

Pass by other painted vessels transporting passengers and check out the boat vendors selling fresh food. Hungry? Taste a variety of dishes and drinks, such as mole, mixiote (barbequed meat), roasted corn, quesadillas, tacos, carnitas, pulque (milk-colored alcoholic beverage) and micheladas (Mexican beer-based cocktail). (Food and drink purchases are at your own expense.) Hear music like mariachi drifting from other boats, occupied by families and visitors celebrating birthdays, baptisms, weddings, or simply a good time.

Duration: 1 hour

Would recommend a full day in Coyoacan with the Frida Kahlo museum tour. The river boat ride was boring.

Alan and Sergio were amazing guides! For the boats, make sure you find a group that want the same experience as you! Whether is drinking, listening to mariachis, or just a calm ride through the water.

The experience was very enjoyable, the guides Gio and Héctor did everything possible for everyone's enjoyment. The stop at Taller Orfebre was interesting, it's just that the prices are a bit out of proportion when you compare them to similar products you have access to during the same excursion. In Coyoacán, although time becomes very short, the visit to the central square, Church and surrounding areas was very pleasant. The Frida Kahlo House Museum, “It’s a must”, transports and transmits admiration and energy. Short stop in the University City, beautiful and impressive Murals. We loved Xochimilco, it exceeded our initial expectations. In general, a highly recommended experience if you want to maximize visits to different places of interest.

Just WOW! Such an amazing day! I loved the history lessons and information they gave us regarding all the areas we stopped at. By far my favorite thing was Xochimilco, the boats and Frida's house. Totally worth it! 10/10! Would recommend!

This tour was so fun. The guides know how to give you information in a fun and educational way. There is bathroom stops along the way. There is also a food stop buffet. The choices were so good. This became a highlight from our trip. The boat ride is a must do. There will be drinks for purchase and mariachi song requests which you should absolutely agree to pay for amongst your boat mates. The frida khalo museum is on your own. You can walk through at your own pace
