Oregon is one of the states of the Pacific Northwest of the United States. It has an area of 255,026 square kilometres, which 3,899,353 people call home. The capital is Salem, but Portland is the largest city in Oregon. Other large cities are Northwest Clackamas, Eugene and Gresham.
Oregon is famous for its trees, but only about half the state is covered by trees. The southwest portion of the state is a desert, while the areas close to the coast are considered rain forest. Its one of the most diverse states in the United States for climate, including snowcapped mountains of the Cascades. The land is so attractive and unique that nearly half of it is held by the U.S. Forest Service as well as the Bureau of Land Management.
