January: Dreamworld extended hours

During the hot summer nights of January Dreamworld opens it doors for extended hours until mid January each year until 9pm daily. They have world class laser shows which light up the park at 8.30pm.

February: Sand Safari Arts Festival

Having eaten your share at January's Chinatown Market, feed your soul at the Annual Sand Safari Arts Festival, which draws crowds from around the globe. All works are inspired by sand and sea, and include mammoth sand sculptures installed along the Surfers Paradise shoreline. There are two principle shows staged: "The Gold Coast Sand and Sea Trail" and "Creatures from the Deep" Interested in knowing who won this year's Australian Sand Sculpting Championship?

March: Quicksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast Surf Annual Competition

The nation's passion for the sport of surfing will be on full display when the world's best surfers do their thing at Snapper Rocks in March at Coolangatta. The Roxy and Quicksilver Pros competitions launch the 2020 WSL World Championship Tour, so prepare to see awe-inspiring performances by men and women with the most progressive surfing styles and techniques on the planet. April: Gold Coast Film Festival

Return to Surfer's Paradise for for the 2020 Gold Coast Film Festival. All film genres are sure to be represented: indies, dramas, anime, documentaries on the event's menu. June 2020: Whale Watching

It's official: whale watching season kicks off in June and it's the ideal way to welcome winter down under.
