If you decide to rent a campervan in Blenheim then you have come to the right place. Located in the north east of the South Island of New Zealand in the township of Blenheim, or Waiharakeke in Maori. It is the most populated town in the Marlborough region, having almost 31,000 inhabitants. It takes up approximately 104 square kilometres in area.
The Marlborough region is world renowned for it wine production, and proudly boasts a swag of globally recognised, award winning wines. The region enjoys cold crisp winters, and sunny hot summers, which are relatively dry.
Following the Battle of Blenheim in 1704 where the British soldier John Churchill successfully defeated an attack by the French and Germans, Blenheim was subsequently names after the historic battle.
For such a small town, there is certainly no shortage of activities. It is most certainly a walker and hikers paradise, offering walks along the harsh coastline, and through the native bush. You may choose to go whale watching in the Kaikoura, or swimming with the dolphins in Marlborough Sound. A wide range of other water based activities including boating, scenic cruises, water skiing, snorkelling, deep sea fishing, kayaking and scuba diving are all on the agenda.
Then of course you are in one of the best locations in the world to enjoy fine gourmet foods, accompanied with an enormous range of the world's best wines. What's not to love about that?
